Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
3 Attachment(s)
Had an old screw jack sitting in the garage, and I am to ------- cheap to get a real one. Decided I would hoook mine up. Guess it isn't the most creative but figured I would share with the Nogs. Welded a socket to the end, hooked up the impact and vioala, no more stupid screw jack madness. I had to lay on some bigger welds because my little welds didn't quit hold. Works pretty decent though :8

death jack but hmt for sure. Nice koseis.

Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
I'd also weld a big cup like on a real jack to the top of that... I hate trusting that indentation with the weight of my car.

Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
nice time use one of those gear reduction sbc starters and run it on 36v
from flat to 15" higher in less than your 60ft times :6 :6 |

Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
OEM Honda jack with a 1 1/16" socket hammered on, HF Impact gun = easy change to slicks at the track.
|
Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
well i guess a somewhat useful creation for the essentially useless oem spare jack
nice work |
Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
i made one of those years ago, but instead of wasteding a socket, i had a peice of steel that i machined 2 lines out of and put a square hole in the end...
i fail at the HMT :( |
Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
that is real get'r done action.
i got tired of my wheel key and socket coming apart so i did sort of the samething. just weld teh socket on! NEUMAN |
Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap

Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
Good idea. At least you put a SAE socket to good use!
|
Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
very nice young paddy won

Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
I'd have used a regular bolt head, but then again I don't have spare tools to throw to the cause. I think I'm going to do this, since my big 3ton jack gets heavy after doing lots of exhaust work, upsidedown.
Excellent idea. |

Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
haha i been stealin the jack outa the step pops truck for a while 1 1/4 socket fits perfect put the impact on that bad boy and up she goes! that jack will get it up high enough to get a transmission out with very very little diging in the rocks. solid work my friend solid work...

Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
I did this with a ryobi 18 volt cordless and just tightened the extention that coems with the jack in the chuck of the cordless driver. went up alot faster then that... see if that works :8

Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
I had a jack that style with a 17mm bolt head as the end (came in a Chrysler Concorde), so that you could use the tire wrench to just turn it, i always just put a 17 on my impact gun and spun it. Nice way to adapt that one! :)

I also use the same setup for at work when i get someone with a super low car or ricer body kit to get it just high enough so i can fit the arms of are lifts under the car. |
Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
design something to do that on the side of the road. run it off the vehicles 12v system
|
Re: Homemade Electric Jack on the cheap
Why not just take a large nut and bore it out big enough to slip onto the square part of the jack and then weld it? Then use a socket on the nut.
