OP, I would recommend you use the black iron pipe on the shelf next to the cast/threaded bends, as it's thicker/stronger. My experience using mild steel exhaust pipe to support a turbo was the pipe would fatigue and crack adjacent to the weld when it was required to support the weight of the turbo. Failing that, some fence post would do the trick and could be stolen from your local elementary school, construction site, or annoying neighbor.

Heres a log attempt that failed because i tried using a sawzall'd stock mani flange (nasty cast) warped like a ****:

 

reminds me of the top mount setup I had about 3 years ago - same idea but I used 2" sch. 40 bends - cost me under $50 and ran it for about 1.5 years.

How do you plan on using that center hole? Knocking out the stud, welding a nut on the bottom flange, and a bolt through the top after a couple minutes of grinding?

I did mine an easier way - I get to the 3 nuts from below, and can leave the turbo on if I want. It also spools really quick, since its divided almost to the turbo inlet. WG tube wasn't installed when pic was taken:
