Here goes my Solo Intercooler Install Sunday Afternoon... (PICS)
 

Well, i was supposed to go up to LA to LSD MOTORSPORTS (mike)'s house to do my ---- on saturday... well i guess i can say i didn't have the parts i needed and was bout to head up with just an intercooler n hope to get it done. didn't wanna get stuck incase we didn't finish and at the same time i didn't wanna drive for 2 hours there n 2 hours back in a damn sparco seat... So the day Started off early sunday morning. did most of my driving around saturday, picked up welder at a buddy's house, pipes in santee which is 40 mins from my house, napa for connectors, home depot for cutting wheels then all i had to do sunday was go get my cutting/grinder machine from my other friends house. it was a damn long ass weekend but here it goes... on to the pics.


First thing we did was strip the bitch down nakid, didn't wanna damage the fenders or anything during the install so off they went

After that we mounted the bitch, the intercooler was pretty large n i am in love with it, pretty cooling if u ask me, going from a sidemount to this thing is awesome.

Finishing the Lower half, cuttin n grindin, i tried to do as least amount of connecters possible as to my last kit had like 5 per charge... that ---- was rediclous when one popped off cuz i never knew which one it was...

Here's after we finished the bottom hot pipe to the intercooler, didn't come out to bad.

Preppin the passanger side under the battery, didn't wanna relocate it n drill a hole through the battery tray like everyone else so.... drill a hole through the framing under it was a perfect idea... worked great.

Well after those few pics the battery died and my sister was gettin mad at me for gettin her camera dirty cuz we were usin it as we were goin n my hands were basically black. So here's a lil after shot of the front with the bumper now on.

So yeah thats about it, over all it was a long but fun day. when we first finished i couldn't mash it cuz i made some ghetto reducers off the intercooler end tanks cuz there 3 inch but my piping was 2.5, i picked some reducers up the next day so everythings in and workin great as of right now. feels real nice and i kno its doing its job... any input, props of flame is appreciated... more projects to come.

as for the turbo, its a GT2860RS, i made a thread a while back of me installing it, it ran pretty good on the sidemount but it got NO FLOW at all, no side vent no nothing. jus nice hot air. now i got this bad boy on and it feels awesome, and i feel safer i guess. as for the welder, it's a cheapo Lincoln electric Weldpac 100 without using gas. the welds are nicer when you use gas.

i said local completion not competition mike lol. but now i have no excuses for any races comin up. i got my diff, i got some really really nice fat knobby street tires, i got the front mount on, upgraded turbo... full 3 1/4 inch turbo back piping... slightly modded ecu at 20psi... we'll see what its capable of when i get out there whenever the next one is.

i actually did buy 2 cans of black, but i was finishing up at night and wanted to drive it already haha. it was completly black when i FIRST painted it, i was touching it while it was still wet n ---- then the first test drive came before it was even dry as well. im gonna pull everything off and run a bead around the tips then repaint everything again n let it completly dry lol

you prolly seen me around. im always in eastlake area but i dont live there nor do i intend on telling you where i live with ur 3post after u see my setup...

bastard, i want your 240, minus the sr20 poo poo :P so when did you repaint the whole car? how much did it cost you? all the 240's im finding have fucked up ass paintjobs and will need to be repainted (paintmatching looks gay) when i get the silvia front. oh yeah 6>4 ;)

the paint is rattle can lol. can't u see the paint chipping? costed me a hot 12 bux... come to sd when ur done with ur setup. we'll see how well ur 6 does over my 4 lol. if i dont blow it by then. your6<my4... until u upgrade that is. my car has a shitty as paint job all around, dents everywhere, there rattle can on the passanger door cuz i bondo's some ---- n just sprey'd it. my new paint job is comin up... ill post more pics then, prolly around 500 tops for the whole car.

Oh what form of management are you using. After I turbo my Integra, later on down the road, eventually I want to do an HMT setup on an old 240. Most likely with the KA24 though. I don't have money for the sr20, or really do I care for it. (who the hell am I kiddin, if I had the money sr20det it would be, lol)

But yea. I just kind of started learning a bit more about them. Are you using that JWt, or whatever ecu? How does that work. Could you elaborate more on that. Thanks man.

your coupe doesnt look that bad. kinda makes me want to sell my civic and jump on the bandwagon and buy a 240 :P. nah id just buy a 240 to use it as my beater :o............. :-*

boost holds great, couldn't ask for more. sr20 was just my choice because i blew a KA when it was NA so i figured if it couldn't take it NA it can't handle boost. thats just my perspective tho. for management its still got the stock injectors (370cc) and a slightly alter'd ecu to add a lil more fuel up top. no jwt here tho. i had some guy do it locally. i know nothing about the program or tune. thx again for the compliments.

i dont have a tig nore do i know anyone with one besides local shops, they wanted 400 jus to do my intercooler piping... why pay them that much when i can do it for way less then half that including intercooler? n yeah i coulda bought one of ebay intercooler pipe kits n it woulda looked sweet as ---- buttt...... i like the do it your self look.. so when i pop my hood it doesn't look like i bought the car like that or just picked it up at a shop. i almost consider this a HMT job because i changed the turbo, oil lines n coolant lines to steal braided lines. n all the charge piping. its pretty much a home made turbo now isn't it? thx tho buttsex

there real watanabe's... the ssr's are 1 piece, see the rivits? there being sold sometime next week tho. i got a full dual lip enkei mesh that i got at the junkyard off some mid 70's nissan. they look pretty sweet but to some people there ugly..

ive raced at the q, and im only paranoid cuz i have to be, do you know the theft ratio of 240's these days? paranoia is only precaution. doesn't hurt. where u live, why kinda car you drive, we can meet up somewhere or something.

I didn't ask for his street address, I simply asked which part of San Diego he lived in. You think if he said Mira Mesa, I'd go driving through every residential area in Mira Mesa, knocking on doors, peeking through mail slots just to find his car and steal his hardpipes or some ----? Anyway, turboDA6, I live in Clairemont, drive a 1990 MX6 GT... I used to go to Qualcomm every friday, so that's probably where I've seen you. If you ever wanna meet up or whatever, let me know, I'm off on Sundays. Also, I'm a welder by trade, so if you need help with any work, let me know, I've got a Mig/Flux machine, and will probably grab a Tig setup here shortly.

coulda used your help durring the install of the intercooler lol, i had to put jb weld over the welds for safety but if the weldes were nicer n more penetrating i wouldn't have had to. ur off tomorrow but im busy tomorrow. maybe next week or sumthin. n i do live in mira mesa. not to far from u i guess.
