Re: Go kart modifications
This is just a cheap project for now, and the 200cc 5 HP engine on it runs fine now. It does look like there's plenty of room for a bigger engine though :6

Update:
Got the steering support hoop remounted today :D There's much more room for my legs now and the wheel isn't jammed into my crotch anymore. Just gotta work on the new pedal mounts now. Old vs. new: http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/5...cart002fp0.jpg http://img353.imageshack.us/img353/867/1000811an9.jpg http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/9328/1000812dz8.jpg http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/4889/1000813ue0.jpg http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/4052/1000814zt8.jpg |

I was thinking of instead of having your legs go through the steering support hoop. Why not give the support a coke bottle shape and have it curve in and have your leg go on the outside of it? Just hack off the sides of the hoop just before the steering column. Flip them around so the curve is on the bottom and the straight parts attach to the sides of the steering column thingy? Like this
JIL (Just think of the "L" as a backwards J. lol. and the "I" as the steering column.) |
Re: Go kart modifications
My legs do go outside of it now. It's sort of hard to tell from the pics, but the frame gets narrower towards the front end. There's still plenty of room for my legs to go around it.
