Maybe you should invest in a new core then?They are only about $150.It would actually make your welds look better because there is no oil in a new core.

i made it for a car that was basuically built from scrap parts for free. i wasnt concerned with it coming out perfect, the cooler was soaked in oil, welded like ---- and had mashed fins. i worked with what was available and given the material list, id say itll work just fine.

I still say, air flow/restriction aside, wouldn't it cool just the same no matter which way you do it? Because you still have the same surface area? I think it's a neat little project for free Hotrex.

The vw sidemount coolers(similar in size) show a 5 psi pressure drop at about 200whp.

yea, the purpose of running the charge air through the larger part of the core is because water cools 100% better than air. So the water can flow through the smaller part of the core. You should have found another one and welded them together if you were gonna run it the way you did. Not that i disagree with you, the fins definately need to be perfect for the charge air to flow through, or it will have a 20 psi restriction at 100hp

All you need to do is clean up the core to build it properly.I guess he was too baked to do that.
