So i should just pony up for a $250-300 unit?

I plan on using mine ALOT! I hate birdshit welds and i hate piles with wire bits sticking out of them as well. I want to make legit stuff that is going to last a while.

if you plan to make manifolds and charge pipes, you wont be happy with the MIG. it will hold just fine, but no matter how hard you try, it will never look good. i have made tons of things with my mig, and none of them break, but they never look as good as i have done with a tig

Im the polar opposite, if you're doing it for sale youll do better with a mig. It's faster, cheaper & far easier. That's with a good mig tho, not some $300 jinx

i agree that it is faster, cheaper, and easier. a mig'd manifold will work great. but people want tig welded manifolds and if you mig weld them, they wont look as nice and people wont buy them.

At least get some kind of a mig welder then. Gas and solid wire is so much more forgiving with settings.
