i always use a vice when making hoses. never tried it without

i tried the chisel method a while back, seemed to work alright. Not that ive done a ton of these things but i still like the tape/cutoff wheel method imho, just be sure to clean out the debris from inside the hose.

After cutting with a cutoff wheel youcan take a foam earplug and shoot it through the hose with compressed air it cleans the hose out pretty darn good
