Default AN fitting help

So I got some -4 stainless steel braided hose from Summit racing for my oil feed line, and I can't freaking get the hose ends on there. I've spent at least an hour and just managed to make my hose about 6 inches shorter. My thumbs are full of holes, so does anyone have any good tips or writeups on how the hell to get this ---- on there?

electrical tape is the real key to putting those fitting on. i didnt watch the video so i dont know what was in it, but put the tape on where you want to cut, then cut in the middle of the tape. that will keep the wire from fraying. lube the inside of the hose and put your fitting on.

video shows the guy cutting the braided hose with a sharpened chissel and a hammer on a table with no tape. It frayed a little bit at the ends, but it was pretty clean for the most part. I can see how some tape would prevent the fraying. But since its braided, isn't it going to fray no matter how its cut?

What other things do you guys use to cut stainless braided hoses
