first home made intake manifold...WUT

Re: first home made intake manifold...WUT
I think that the uneven finish on the runners where they enter the plenum will lead to alot of turbulence. If you google the subject of intake manifolds you can learn alot on their design runner length plenum volume etc. However im definitely interested in seeing the dyno!

I've never tackled building an intake so I'll post a link and be quiet.

you keep referring to the oem length..take a look at most sheet metal intakes, short runner big plenum for top end....the oem one is made for drive ability low end around town etc. lets say u dyno and it makes a good bit more power...well imagine with shorter runners properly size im sure it would do even better up top.

Nothing wring with long runners for a na application. Na's need the bottom end torque otherwise they become lazy to drive and even more boring than what they already are.
For an na application I would only bother with an aftermarket manifold unless you are using som crazy spec cams and plan to make serious power and revs.
Edit - nice idea. Maybe next go for a tapered plenum using pipe instead of a box. Boxes create pocket s of "dead" air in the corners which create turbulence on the inside.
