Default First header

Hi guys, I know this is home made turbo but I thought I'd share something I've been working on. Had some spare 180 degree bends laying around so I thought I'd try and make a header for my prelude.

Started by making a Y pipe

Made a jig and cut and tacked 1 runner first

Stated piecing it together. Held on by tape at this stage. Speeds things up a lot!

Got my gas lense and it made a big difference!

I actually finished welding up all the runners tonight but haven't taken anymore pics. Been welding for 3.5 months now so still much to improve!

Thanks for looking!

---- looks good man, keep up the work. how hard do you think it will be to get to the runners where 2 and 3 meet the flange?

lol at the whitey bend for #4, one bend too few i guess.

Lol! yeah number 4! pretty much used up all the materials I had for that!

I used a bandsaw to cut the tubes. Kinda guessed the angles really.

A gas lense helps give a much better flow of gas. Gives a much cleaner weld from what I can tell.

With runner 2 and 3 I just broke it off the flange, tacked the ends on a piece of flat and welded it up.

what kind of a blade are you guys using for these band saws when cutting pipe/metal? My dad has one, but I doubt it would be good to shove metal into his woodcutting blade?

wouldn't be good, but its been done before. cutting fluid (wd 40) is your friend

Most likely he is using a horizontal bandsaw with a really slow cutting speed, not like a normal bandsaw meant for wood (although i have toyed with the idea of swapping pulleys on one of my dads upright saws so i can have a big upright one for metal)

header looks **** btw
