Kinda don't understand your post. But I think I'll try for about an inch in the front, since GCs top-hats are actually a little under an inch, and I think the top threaded part of the AGX stuts I have sticks up a little farther than the Konis.

But actually the front isnt what I'm concerned with as much as the rear. I think I've seen some marks in my wheel-well from the entire tire rubbing (and I only have oem sized 13s), so I didnt want to make the top-hat too tall. But in the rear is where I need them most since it seems to hit the bump-stops most-often. Probably because the AGX rears blew, and i have some tokico blues back there, which pretty much suck.

Today I'll do some measuring at least to see what can fit through the hole in the "frame", and where my suspension should bottom out before the struts.

All the cutting, smoothing, grinding is done for the top-hats. Now I just need to buy some tubes to extend them since all I have around is exhaust, which I'm kinda Iffy on using since after cutting into these top-hats, since I now realize how much tougher-made they are then some exhaust pipe.

im saying, take off the strut assembaly.

is there a gap between the spring and the tophat? (when not compressed in any way)

you want to do about that much of a pipe extension... if its to much of an extension to close your hood. then do it alil less...

I'm prepped some old top-hats I had. The ones on the car are all stock and together still. I'll try what you're saying, though I think the gap between the springs and the top-hat are going to be huge with the sleeve coilovers I am using.

just make sure your welds are solid. pipe isn't thinwall, and you will be straight.

I GUARANTEE they will hold.

I seriously don't think this part of the strut really gets that much abuse with my not-too-stiff struts.
