Exhaust for AE86

It's not much so far but I want something different that you don't see every other car rolling down the street with and I love the look of the Buddy Club Spec II but I never bought a bolt on catback and never will for the price companies charge for them is outrageous. So far I only have 40 invested in this so far and don't plan on going over $100. It's gonna be only 2" since the 4AGE will only have just the usual I/H/E and it's only a 1.6 so it doesn't need to be that big. It's probably gonna be quit loud since it's not gonna have a cat or resonator on it and just a glass pack.
-2" Thrush glass pack $25 from Advance Auto
-Harley softtail pipes $15 from a rummage sale
-2" exhaust kit from Racing-Solutions $45
-ear plugs free from work

I've never use a glass pack so I have no clue to what they sound like. This is my first homemade catback I've ever made or should I say be making to be more correct. I plan on making it just slip together and find some springs at work or at the hardware store to make it come apart easier and I hate exhaust clamps and messing around with flanges and bolts and all that ----. It'll add that jDm baller exhaust touch to it. 8)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...doggahs206.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...doggahs209.jpg
I was gonna use a Es' N1 canister but decided I didn't want it canister on it but the tubing I'll be hacking off to make my "Y" pipe to pipes from the glass pack. And no your eyes are deceiving you. The pipes are not even since they're gonna be like an asian. Angled and slanted ^-^ so they will be straight at the bumper from being angled. Thats mad prefab plannage right thurrr. lol. I'll keep it up dated as the exhaust build continues. Stay tuned niglets. 8)

Re: Exhaust for AE86

Should've made a 4" exhaust :P

Looks good so far... $100 for any exhaust ain't bad at all, and this ones going to be mega custom.

Re: Exhaust for AE86

I just realized this is the exhaust dreams are made of for any muscle head in US. Thrush glasspack and the sound of a harley muffler. It's like a rednecks wetdream. :P I may of stumbled onto something. :6 I even left the resonator thingy in one of them to keep that harley sound. Should be interesting once on. I'll get a video clip of this badboy once done.

Re: Exhaust for AE86

My sweet first 2-1 collector. This thing took forever to line up and get it right. I'm happy with it though. All stainless tubing since thats all I had laying around.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...doggahs211.jpg
Yummy ;D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...doggahs212.jpg
and a really bad example of how it's gonna be. It's not gonna be past the bumper and actually be like an inch or two behind it and below it. The piping gonna run under the axle just cause it'll be easier. It shouldn't be too loud since I'm using that glasspack as a resonator and a Es' N1 canister for the muffler and should now be even cheaper since I'll need less piping.
as you can see if you scroll over I'm concentrating very hard to take the pic and hold the tips as I'm rocking the Michael Jordan tongue. lol :P

Re: Exhaust for AE86

they wont have anything like a harley sound. thats a 2 valve, large displacement, shittily timed sound :) But it will sound weird, put up some clips when you're done with it. If it still sounds like a motorcycle it will probably sound like a yamaha i 4 cruiser bike, or an old KZ1000. If you take the baffle out it will be loud as ---- ;D Pretty damn cool though. I need to make an exaust for the celica.

thats a little different..kinda like it ..post a sound clip or vid :6

Re: Exhaust for AE86

You need to make it stick out of your bumper about an inch or so, and at more of an angle.

Re: Exhaust for AE86

I couldn't position how I wanted since the old muffler is still there and in the way of where I wanted it. For the Z I always wanted to do two sportbike mufflers with the little angled tips like this
https://i21.ebayimg.com/05/i/07/52/5a/d4_1.JPG
or like these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WR450...QQcmdZViewItem
If anyone know anyone with some stock silencers like these let me know.

Your Y pipe came out nice. A friend of mine has a harley muffler on his mr2 and surprisingly, it sounds realy good.

I should get the car back from paint today hopefully then I can finish the exhaust.

Re: Exhaust for AE86

get some long champs. and in the rwd community, your exhaust is no different then every other. its nice tho. but no different... its pretty typical. swap in a 20v ;D

stillnoturbo 06-09-2006 12:16 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

I was looking for some but can't find any reasonable in 14's or 15's or for a complete set.

turboDA6 06-09-2006 12:54 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

hit pandagarage.com he gets them on the regular. he recently sold a full set of 16's for like 700 bux with tires, used but not to bad. email him cuz he does special orders as well.

stillnoturbo 06-09-2006 11:20 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

Frank does special orders too. 8) For me that is. I looked on Pandagarage and he doesn't really have anything that great right now and I don't feel like waiting for them to try to find something. With Frank I can just send him a link to something in Oki and he can check them out in person and take his own pics and send them to me.

yup.

Re: Exhaust for AE86

ur choice, pandagarage is convient for me cuz he lives 10 mins away and i jus go through all his ----, if i need something i jus leave a deposite, and he has it within a month. patience is golden and well worth it sometimes. but if frank boy is willing to help cool, i jus didnt think of him cuz last time he tried to play jdm distributor he flaked and said i'd find it cheaper in the states.

stillnoturbo 06-10-2006 08:43 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

Rims bought. Will post pics once they come and the hatch is out of paint booth. 8) Rusty silver Roku will be no longer. Mas at Takumi project hooked me up.

9 times out of 10, you can.
by the time you pay shipping and everything, your most likely to get the exact same thing for the exact same price in the states. I accually buy most of the ---- for my car from the states. Im waiting on an order right now from King motorsports, im buying my new water/oil pump from the states, im ordering my new tires from the states, my redline oil comes from the states...you get the point.

funny you say that. Ive never seen a harley exhaust matched with some cherry bombs on the internet. anyone who brags about there car and into the internet or forums at all has there car posted on the net. the style, yes.

as for some long champs. is this what you mean. $200 for 2. 8)
(the other 2 werent there)

turboDA6 06-11-2006 10:41 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

i was referring more to the style. namebrand never matters, replica testical blah blah blah. it replicates the DD exhaust but is a motorcycle exhaust. same style so hard to call "unique" or "original" jus cuz the material used. but still nice.

n yeah those are the rims. longchamps are hott lol. especiall staggered.

stillnoturbo 06-12-2006 08:55 AM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

I see the long champs on so many 86's like slipstreams used to be with the civic. I went with something else that I have yet to see. 8) called the Paint shop and not sure it'll be done before I go on vacation thursday for a couple of days. I'm probably gonna get the wheels and my Bride seat before the car is done. ::)

Henry your still Alive ?!

Haha whats going on man..

And where the hell is the Z.

stillnoturbo 06-12-2006 12:35 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

The Z is my daily driven summer bitch now. I'm reinstalling the BC seat I was trying to sell and decided to keep it. I'll post some updated pics tomorrow. I have to get some new bolts at work since I stripped the old ones getting out the recaro that was in it from before.

turboDA6 06-12-2006 01:18 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

longchamps on 86's are like your exhaust on 86's. pretty common but hott lol. take some pics after everything is done and installed. only thing i hate about the 86 is its solid rear end lol. you never get camber and camber is hot. and installing a diff is weird.

stillnoturbo 06-12-2006 02:07 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

Yeah the no rear camber thing is weird but it'd doesn't bother me that much. Thats just longer my tires will last....if I don't go crazy with the ebrake! lol.

you'd be surprised how much longer they last with full contact patch durring slides compared to full camber durring slides lol

Re: Exhaust for AE86

Here's pics today after I finally installed the seat and harness in the Z. The Illumina shocks and springs are in it. It's lower but not that much lower but still so much better then before. I had to weld in some tubing I had left over from the rollbar for the harness to keep it under 45 degrees from where I was gonna mount it to the opening on the seat so I would paralyze myself! lol.
Damn I look fast! lol. Oh anyone feel like trading if they have a open face they feel like getting rid of? This one makes me feel all claustofaubic oh however you spell it. It's in like perfect shape and comes with a bag and all. It's a medium HJS or something. SNELL and everything.

No 86 yet :( I'm hoping to get it back before I leave in two days since I'll be gone on vacation till next week. If not then it'll be like Christmas when I get back with all the packages waiting for me. Rims..seat..car..some ---- from Frank... springs..more ----... ;D

Re: Exhaust for AE86

that thing is sexy. man i love that car.

you need some padding on the cage and some shoulder pads for the belt. it would suck to wreck and have those harnesses go straight into you.

stillnoturbo 06-14-2006 08:00 AM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

I thought about some padding on the hoop but It's kinda useless since I can't get my headover that far strapped in and I'm about 6" from the top of the hoop to my head. Harness pads wouldn't be that bad but my insurance check that I got is completely spent and then some! lol. I'll pick some up in a couple of weeks. I got some mad jDm Spooooon ones that I have on my junkyard backpack but they won't fit onto 3" wide belts from my ricy'er days way back when. lol. :P

Re: Exhaust for AE86

Awesome Z man! I wouldn't mind owning one of those.

turboDA6 06-14-2006 10:30 AM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

get some wheel spacers for the z so those wheels sit nice n flush, maybe a 20mm bolt on spacer all the way around. maybe even 25mm

stillnoturbo 06-14-2006 11:29 AM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

I thought about it but I don't have like the 200 or so for bolt-on spacers. I could maybe get some ext studs and just the normal spacers. I'm gonna need to do the same with 86 since it's gonna have the same flares also since the rear wheel wheel lip was completely gone on one side and the other had about a 1/4 of it gone. Mental picture.... I used 2 one pint buckets of bondo on it :-X. The one side use about almost half of one bucket.

haha damn, all that bondo. but yeah dude i trust the bolt-ons more then just extended with slip on spacers. a fatter stance would looks sweet on both ur 86 and the z

stillnoturbo 06-14-2006 01:50 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

Yeah I'm not a big fan either of just longer studd and that long of a spacer. Hell I don't even know if they make that wide of a plain ol' spacer. Cheapest I've seen for the bolt on spacers are like 90 for a pair. But thats the price yah gotta pay to have that fatass stance. 8)

HondaTuner 06-14-2006 01:55 PM

Re: Exhaust for AE86

The Z is lookin sweet.

Can't wait to see the exhaust all done up :) What color did you have the 86 painted? I must've missed that...
