Default Every one loves log ;)

Pretty much finished working on my ghetto cheapness log manifold, so figured I'd post it up for you guys to see. It's made using an old DC-sports exhaust flange that I cut off of a 4-2-1 header I had laying around, and uses 1 1/4" cast steel gas pipe fittings from Home Depot. Ran about $2.50 each for 2 90*'s and 2 T's. Had to grind where the two T's met in the middle to fit the ports right, but the sides that attached to the 90's were perfect. I was just going to cut an exhaust flange out for the 16g exhaust housing, but I still had an old hf/14b adapter plate laying around with 2 bolts broken off in it...ported it out to match the housing and it worked perfect. 38mm ebay wastegate tops it off, and used a 2.5" triangle header collector for the downpipe flange...fits perfect! Anyway, here's the pic I took so far...it's on a b16a, and looks like I could fit a full-size rad if I wanted to.

Not bad for a manifold that cost me less than $20 to build I think

Damn, I'm headed to home depot. Now I can try the manifold for the Z and don't have to worry about if it turns out shitty.

Definitely ghetto.

Make sure and keep an eye on it. The CAST material may not take the heat cycles well, and could be prone to cracking. THe good part is that you can weld it back up if it does.

It'll have to be extreme heat to crack. When I welded it, I hit the cast pieces with my torch and get them extremely hot, then cranked my mig up to it's highest amperage setting and went to town. It worked out pretty well, and I could see on the inside where the mig penetrated. After I was done, most of the manifold was a deep blue color too, so there was definately alot of heat going on. Then I bolted it to my motor and stuck my engine hoist to it and lifted the nose of the car in the air. Figured if it held that, it'll hold the turbo just fine.

Not for the power range I want I'm only shooting for the 235-250hp mark. The turbo will put out 430cfm without batting an eye, so I'm not worried. Just have alot of careful tuning to do.
