Bumble and Weir do you think my simple design will not be strong? I may use the one I built and put it in the 30 ton press at the shop and see when and how it breaks. Its seems very very strong. Bumble what size plate are you using for you side plates that mount to that tubing for you control arm mounts? It looks like 3/16. What size heims do you use? What grade are they. I was thinking of buying some heavy duty expensive rod ends.

My problem is that the weld is a small knot, and set up to absorb all the stress of the interface between the rod end and the plate that bolts to the LCA. None of the other designs do this, and ------ or defer the load across the part better.

There's free FEA software on the web to illustrate this... I could well be wrong that your part wouldn't hold up well, but I just don't like the way the weld has to support the entire load. You are placing the bulk of your stress on the weld, as opposed to bumble oir weir's which place the load across the pieces of steel themselves and the weld just holds the pieces in place.

after inspecting daves piece today in person, there is honestly no way that it could be any weaker than bumbles unit.

i think your's will work fine dave, i'm just thinking it would be easier and more cost effective to make one like mine that doesn't require any welding. at worst, you could make one like mine with just a flat bar with the two holes and a spacer under the far end that could be welded to the flat bar. you could just make the spacer to match the thickness of your rod end and the id on your rod end spec it to match the size of the bolt. i believe it is M14. bolt it right to the lca as mine is but you'd have the rod end stuffed in there instead. that might save you a bit of work... just trying to make it more cost effective for you. does any of my explanation make sense or am i talking out my ***?

Yes Aaron I have already made one like yours. Or most of it at least. I am going to drill the control arm in the front hole to be able to use a 1/2 bolt al the way through. That way the rod end doesn't have slop.

Ya as Dave and I have Already PMed about. This would be nice, but seeing as I use 1/2" Heims, asking must customers to drill out their LCA is not effeicent and easy for some. Buying Metric components is just too bloody expensive in an imperial controlled world!!!

Yeah that would be a headache but this is for my own car and I don't make them for customers so I figure this is an easy route to go so I dont have to change my radius rod length.

Yup. But your not going to change the radius rod length? Is it not going to be apprx. 1" too short now?

We also just finish my buddies setup that will work like Aarons. Using the Stock rod we machined t to a new thread and made a LH/RH joiner to adjust. Works nice.
