dumptubes: re-routing vs. open

maybe I am missing some part of this but correct me if I am wrong: can't you just take the dump tube and send it into the downpipe into the exhaust?

yes, but you want the wideband 10-12 inches form dp flange at turbo and before the recirculated dump tube

why would you want the dumptube located after the wideband? don't you want the wideband to read the dumptube exhaust? what about the narrowband sensor? don't you want that one to read the DP gases also?

i confused.

cause it makes the af ratios fluctuate, it already read the gasses coming out of the turbo the wg opens and reroutes the same gasses

i was told if you dont put flex on the wg dump re-route tube its a bitch trying to get it back on after you take it off once because of warping and expansion, which makes sense, how come i never see it done? false info?

as long as you don't take it off when it is extremely hot and give it time to cool down it should stay in the shape it cools in. same deal for manifold head flanges... in most cases they warp a bit after being welded up... tighten the header bolts while it is hot, after you heat cycle it the first few times and when you go to take it off a few years later it will be flat as glass.

gases coming out of the dumptube aren't thet same gases coming out of the turbo. of course it's going to make the af ratios fluctuate if you dump it before the sensors. that's what you want. more accurate 02 sensor readings. tune it to compensate for it. you want the o2 sensors to see those gases that would otherwise be dumped out.

most stock turbo cars use internal wastegates, and they dump out before the sensors.

re-routing or not re-routing is just personal preference. unless you have exhaust leaks, the gasses coming from the turbo are the same as the ones coming from the wastegate. how else would cars be able to be tuned with open dumps?
