Default DSM intrclr. end tank modification

Sorry for the long title.

Anyways, I just got my DSM side mount from ebay and it's in great condition, but i'm concerned about the pipes on the end tanks being so small. I wanted to put somewhere between 2 to 2.5in pipes coming off the end tanks. I thought I had seen some people do this before but can't find it anywhere. So has anyone done this?

Should I just put some reducers from the charge pipes? I think that'll restrict my flow a good bit though

And these things are made of aluminum right? that will be somewhat difficult to find a shop around my area to do that, anyone know some good shops in the ATL area to do this.

Thanks

well i'm not tryin to make more than 250 hp and I would like to keep my intercooler hidden. I don't want everyone to know i'm boosted by the intercooler in my bumper. I probably will end up getting the CCA though and painting it flat black, but I want a good solution for now that won't be restricting my power.

Theres not enough room on the endtanks for 2.5" but what you can do is buy a 2.5"IDto 2.XX" OD exhaust reducer/enlarger. cut off the in/out pipes, clean and then JB weld the new ones in.

if you got it why not show it? ppl are going to know your turbo either way....

How are you going to say they only support 200hp? Even if your talking pure turbo power that makes no sense. 10 psi on one turbo is totally different than 10 on another. Don't they hold up to 18psi?

dejon tool does it to the stock sidemounts so im shure you can heres what they say about it

We TIG weld a new 2 1/4" dia inlet tube and outlet elbow to the stock Side mount IC. It will fit all brands of Upper IC pipes and both Lower IC Pipes listed below.

Our tests on the full 2 1/4" IC system show a reduction in pressure drop (measured from the compressor elbow to the intake manifold) from 4psi stock to 1psi @18psi boost & 6000rpm.

We take your stock side mount and (1) cut the stock pipes (2) clean with Kerosene and a chemical aluminum cleaner (3) enlarge the in/out holes and (4) TIG weld on new beaded tubes. You receive a clean & shiny side mount. The Inlet pipe is straight so that it will fit 20g & large turbos. Turn around is 2-3days from receipt of your sidemount.

Thanks XS that was some good info. I'll check out their prices and see if they're within reason. If I don't get it tig'd do you really think the JB weld will hold up? I guess the worst that could happen is I get a crack and then run w/o boost til I get it welded.

I think I"ll open up the holes and JB weld until it messes up or I get a new intercooler.

ANd josh, I just like a sleeper car for some reason.

edit: yeah dejon wants 135 to do this and i'm guessing I'd still have to pay to ship it out. This is HMT, JB weld all the way.
