DP question.

noob here.. never fabricated before and I was just wondering if you can make A/C compatible DP (driver side) with two 180 pipes. I'm planning on doing 2.5" or should I go 3" The motor is y7 and small T3 turbocharger off of a volvo or saab. Or is "pie cutting" the only option? help please.

Re: DP question.

I made a 3" DP off my 14b, but that's passenger side. I think it could be done driver side but it's gotta go under the oilpan which is like 6" offcenter. It'll be a wicked bend, and after that you have the oil drain to worry about. Why can't you flip the turbo and make the DP come off the passenger side?

Re: DP question.

no need for a/c. just roll the windows down. its just a power draining luxury.

Re: DP question.

so it's impossible to make a DP with the 180 bends??

I bought all my turbo parts planning on making it A/C compatible.. bought that wicked log mani from CSaddict and small T3 turbo and already installed slimmer fans to radiator and A/C condenser.

Any tips??

Re: DP question.

Here's the list of things I'm going to get to make my A/C compatible DP. let me know what you guys think

1x T3 5 Bolt flange
1x 2.5" Mild V Band Assembly
2x 2.5" 180 degrees mild steel pipe 3.75 radius
3x 2.5" Mild Steel Tube (a foot long each)

How does that sound?

Re: DP question.

nothings impossible, just ------- get in there and start fabbing it up. a downpipe is fairly easy to make.

Re: DP question.

o and there is no way you will need 3 feet of straight pipe.

Re: DP question.

yeah.. it looks kinda sketchy.. I tried mocking the manifold and turbo to see how much clearance I have.. and it looks really slim.. I don't know how I'm gonna make one.. local shop here said he'll do downpipe to my exhaust for $175~$200 ish.. I think I'll go that route.

Re: DP question.

You'd have to look around here & HT, but I think I have pics up of my D16Z6 Ef that not only has a full 3" DP with A/C, but it also stuffs an internal WG in there! Its also a t3/t04b s-trim. In all honesty, I used whitey bends (pie cuts) and made some brackets that moved the compressor up an inch, but w/o the internal WG, it'd been fine.

The trick is the manifold - if you can get a log in which the flange is centered in front of cyl #3 or farther, it will fit easier than hotrex's mom.
