Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
like it says I got a sweet deal on a set of JE forged pistons for $66 for my set up, bearly used still look brand new. the problem is they where for a custome build and where for a half assed build. they where made to take the LS pins. If I bore out my TT rods to the ls pin specs do u think they would hold good power in the rods? im looking to get 400 to 500whp at the end of thin build
lets see your .02 |
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
whats the difference in wrist pin size
|
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
I thought the pin size was the same they were just diffent as far a pressing/locking?
|
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
there might be a metalurgic difference between the oem wrist pins and the JE ones...I would worry more about that than the rod strength after having the rods bored a tiny bit.
thats my .02. |
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
well just looking at a d15 piston and rod and the je the je opening is a lot bigger I still have to mic it.
but the pistons slip into my block perfect its just the pin sizes |

JB weld everything :6

Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
Couldn't you just use LS rods? I thought you D16 guys would swap LS rods over (boring it out for the wrist pin). That would mean the crank is about the same size, no? I'm still kinda new to Honda/Acura, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
because i have to get a rod that fits the crank and also fits the pistons
|
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
which block you using?
|
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
d16a1, liquid alum filled, sandblastede block and head(going flat black) je pistons, was thinking TT rods.
|
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
ya. just get some tt LS rods and you should be good to go.
|
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
the LS rods will fit the D16 crank?
|
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
You would need to get a machine shop to take off .020" from each side.
Better that, then boring out the small end and risk messing up the brass bearings. just take a stock d-series rod to the machine shop with the LS rod and they will match it. |
Re: Custome je pistons with ls wrist pins
Coll I will look into that. now i just need to see a ls wrist pin to see if im right
