Default cheap wheel spacers?

I always come here when I get I cheap idea so, yesterday I was thinking, looking at my wheels on my s13, could I just cut the center piece of off stock rotors and use them as spacers? I know, heave as ---- :1I didn't searched, I rather felt like making a new thread than looking for old crap, anyone done it? Will pay you with ****

its a decent idea, but i would imagine you would need to get them balanced, else an imbalance at speed would be quite the vibration. most rotors i've seen are pretty thick, you might have to get longer wheel studs, but that is no big deal

but i haven't done it, and i don't know anyone who has

I see what you're saying, basicly use the top of the tophat of the rotor. The problem I see is the difficulty getting it all hub-centric. The underside of the tophat is probably not an exact match to the top centering ring. If its like a Honda rotor though, you could just center them with longer versions of the screws that keep the rotor on the hub.

Balancing isn't a big issue since its still a small diameter. Just eyeball it pretty well where you cut them.

If you really want a cheap spacer system, get a tall hubcentric ring to center the rim, then use washers over the studs...ghetto!

i was thinking about doing this for audi's and VW's. making them able to take japanese patterns rather than
having the german style wheel bolts.

I've got a volvo and I too have those gay *** bolts instead of studs and bolts. Could just drill out hub and press in some studs. As for the spacers, I picked up a set of aluminium spacers on ebay for cheap. I just picture that RX7 that had all the wheels fall off trying to do something really ghetto. lol. Hell I think I still have 2 in my garage if you want them. They weren't hub centric but I never had any vibrating issues with not being hub centric.

you can buy studs that fit in.

While they're not the best idea and I don't know why they (vw, audi, volvo..) did it, wheel bolts aren't worth swapping for studs, to me.
