Camera mount, built it awhile ago
3/4" square tube steel from the hardware store, + a hing, some wingbolts, a grommet, a coupling nut, and an eyebolt. The slots and bolts were to pinch down on the headrests, but it is not needed. I run bungee cords from the eye-bolts to the seat brackets to stabilize it. One wingbolt is to secure the camera, the other is stuck through the welded on coupling nut to adjust the angle of the hinge. And the result:

that is clamped on and costs more. It looks like it would have vibration problems. Mine sits kind of low, and that one is also lower. You also must get out or have a remote to start and stop the camera.
my design is perfectly safe, because as was already noted, the headrests would have to come off for the bar to go anywhere. The headrests can not come off unless the seat is reclined, so the posts would actually have to snap or shear.

1-how is it going to come off of the headrests? The headrest posts go through the bar, which is then clamped to them.
2-they always put walls on auto-x tracks...right...
3-passed tech, no problems, the tech guys actually liked the design.
I would be more worried about the camera coming off the mount and ------- my windshield, but refer to 2.
This is like H-T where they are all pissy about 4pt harnesses w/o cages for auto-x. When someone hits a wall or rolls their car doing it, then I still won't care.
