Boosting in 5th would only kill your car if you had a shitty tune.

Lean tune + Extended loads on the engine = lose

It isn't the cars fault, I run 27psi sustained in 5th gear on pump gas with no water/meth/alky. I'm sure I'd roll 95% of people on here from a 60-70mph roll without even downshifting

5th gear is the fun gear. If you're a confident tuner then you shouldn't sweat it. But it doesn't seem like you are the one who did the cars tuning.

i bet your ecu retards the ---- out of the timing right?

crome "gear correction" isn't fuel based, it's timing. so once that's figured out completely, you can play with that and get good egts.

my car usually blows up before I hit 5th gear anyhow.

*shrug* I did about 100+ 5th gear pulls during the Targa Newfoundland rally this year.....I found the 8700 RPM rev limiter in 5th on 10 or 12 occasions and it was fine. 17 lbs on a GT2871R, 91 octane, Crome tuned, and Extrude Honed coolant passages in the head. I never saw over ~860C EGT and I drove the car 800 miles each way to the race plus the 1500 mile race itself. FWIW this was on stock valves and CP pistons/manley rods. If your car is tuned properly, one pull to redline in 5th won't blow it. Maybe on the 5th or 6th one you will start getting bad heat soak, but a single 5th pull should not hurt anything with proper AFRs and timing.

This is what happens when you use POS Goodridge lines to feed your turbo and you actually use the car for competition use. Never again will I use their shitty products.

Not really no. My base timing is at +5* and my overall timing sits around 21*-24* advanced under full boost pulls.

In your 3800 lb car, with 25% AWD drivetrain loss, I doubt it.

#366/2000 runs a much larger turbo, and a larger MAF, and much more boost across a fully worked head and it couldn't roll against my CRX on single digit boost. Let's do the math: it weighed half your car, had 40% less drivetrain losses, and a much better power to weight.

Welcome to a tin can Honduh... not everything you roll against is a D15 with an IHI, Korby. Some of us have LS and straight T3's, like OMG!

Sad thing is, its probably true.
Glad I'm in the other 5% that would completely destroy you on both the freeway and a standing start.
