I plugged my 180auto set and my dynasty 200dx into my dryer outlet with bare wires for over a year never had a problem. Don't see why it would be any different in a 220v stove plug. It's grounded, has good connections on the hot leads. Why use a plug? Just limits the places you can plug into. :P

30 amp breaker as in, dual 15 or dual 30?

If dual 30, he needs 10/2.

i cant imagine youd pop dual 15amp breakers with that thing. Ive ran my 140 hobart on 115 maxed out and i never popped the 15 amp circuit its on, this is only a 180... on 240v youll be using half the current of the 115v.

guarentee he was welding the pulling towards himself. thats why it ended up looking like he was welding across the seam instead
of with the seam.

shoulda been welding the seam going from right to left or left to right instead of toward or away from yourself.

AS long as the wires don't touch it is fine, hes doing exactly what the plug is doing sans isolating the wires. Besides if the wires touch it'll likely just trip the breaker or arc out and burn up the wire.

i used crimp connectors on my welder when i put two 15ft extension cords together. tripped the breaker and blew sparks all over the garage, i had to solder and sleeve the wires with rubber tubing then.

now i have one nice 35ft 12/3 extension cord that lets me take my welder all over (which has a ~13ft cord on it)
