Buy the $298 Grizzly. It has a 3/4hp motor. The $159 red HF has a 1/2hp motor that actualy only develops a max of right around 1/6bhp. For the rest of the year, the 3/4hp motor is free. Afterwards the Grizzly standard 1/2hp motor gets put on it.
btw Shop Fox = Grizzly storefront if you run across Shop Fox.
I will get the 3/4hp Grizzly this year regardless of any other bandsaws, or chopsaws working in the house LoL!

btw -> pretty much nothing but good thigsn to say about other Grizzly / Shop Fox equipment we've got in the basement.

And for anyone that burns out their cheap ching-chong bandsaw. Use a Grizzly replacement motor, not a harborfreight one. They're slightly under-rated, instead of like HF motors which are only 1/3-1/6 of their rated power.

i have the ching chong meow harbor frieght one and i love it. i keep it on the medium speed and cut everything with it. if i am going to cut stainless then i will go to the slowest speed and if i plan to cut a lot of aluminum then i will change to the highest speed. and i am on my 2nd blade in 3 years. but 1 1/2 yeasr of that right in the middle didnt see much use
