1000 Watt Transformer Adapter 110 220 Converter up/down - eBay (item 120408919414 end time May-19-09 15:53:28 PDT)

when i lived in germany we used to use these to convert their 220 to 110 for our appliances.
this one converts up or down. i was thinking about using it in my garage which only has
110 for my welder.

its just a step up/step down transformer. Nothing special. Just be careful because current on 110 is about 8A and 220 is about 4A. Thats not a whole lot of juice for a welder.

1000watts max output is all this is rated for, so no you should not try to run a welder off it, it will burn up. Depending on your welder, you will need anywhere from 30amps to 100a to run your welder. This thing wouldnt run a 1500watt hair dryer....
