you can buy "expanded" steel. its predrilled in an alternating hole pattern about 1/8 apart. its sheet metal, so you just have to roll it and weld. on another note, where can I get some rock wool locally? I've read about it (its basically cotton candy in rock form) and it sounds like it can handle heat like a badass.
