Aluminum intercooler piping

Re: Aluminum intercooler piping
Forget about witness marks for aluminum tubing. Angles always change when you do it that way.
Just use wide masking tape and TAPE your IC pipes together exactly how you want them. Then, with an exacto knife, cut out 3 3/4" dia holes along the seam for tacks. It's now a no-brainer for anyone with aluminum tube welding experience from this point forward.
Remember to prep everthing the best you can and keep the joints tight before taping. The welding will reflect the prep work.
Worked for me! The hot side is one peice from the turbo to the joint you see in the washer fluid area. One small change in rotation or angle and it wouldnt have fit. I fould it hard to be dead nuts with witness marks when I was building my manifold.

Re: Aluminum intercooler piping
those are some hot looking piping. I wish I was in the states, I would have bought the piping and get one of guys to do it for me(it aint like I need it, its just to please ricer in me I like the way they look compared to mild steel) it would cost too much to do it that way, cheapest I found the bends for on ebay is $99 plus *** raping shipping. then I would have to pay to ship to whoever will do the welding that would be about $25 then find the blitz or dsm flange dont know how much for the aluminum one(the reason for the blitz or dsm flange is because I have a blitz bov with a dsm adapter flange so I can run either bov, blitz or dsm) then pay for the welder to weld it which would be around $200 from what it sounds like, then pay for return shipping, depends on what the shipper wants to charge. its not worth it that way.
I will just get a threadstone kit for $260 whenever I get the money.
just curious, how much would you charge for that piping?

Yea that kit is garbage. But don't rely on those couplers/worm feeds. Of course they are garbage. I bought that same kit and the piping is thick enough where it wont bend under serious clamp load. Bought some silicone couplers and T-Bolts with it as I wasn't looking for the ones in the kit, they were just a bonus ( Iguess you could say that even though I chucked them in the garbage can). Just be careful on the piping you pick. There was someone on there selling aluminum charge pipe kits like that one where the pipes could be bended by just the pressure of your hands squeezing. They did have beads already welded on them, but that ---- is cheap.

there are kits on ebay for under 100 dollars that provide plenty of mandrel 2.5 inch aluminum piping that is perfect for what your doin. the ---- is thin, but it weighs next to nothing, and it welds pretty good. i have part of on of those kits in my garage right now
