2 "or 2.5" pipe, BOV
Hello.
Should I run 2 "or 2.5" pipe from turbo to intercooler and intercooler to the plenum? The target and the capacity of the turbo is about. 240 hp Turbo is 2" I would like a bov. What size should I choose, and where should it be built into?? Pictures: https://sites.google.com/site/xjrturbo/intercooler I am going to change the ends off the intercooler, so dont think off that. https://sites.google.com/site/xjrturbo/turbolader Thanks...... Regards Jan, Denmark I apologize for my bad spelling ;) |
Go 2.5, probabbly in a future you want some more power
|
yes. stay with 2.5 boost piping on street cars. i only use 2.0 piping on motorcycles.

Hey busa4.
I am not sure i understand. This is a motorcycle (Yamaha XJR 1300). So would you choose 2.0 or 2.5?? https://sites.google.com/site/xjrturbo/intercooler Regards Jan, Denmark I apologize for my bad spelling |
I would think busa4 means 2 inch or 52mm pipe and has possibly used that on a Hyabusa Turbo bike going of his sig.
Especially on a Motorcycle I would look at a Mazda GTX Turbo type bypass valve to circulate boost pressure when the throttle is closed, anti lag style and the safety BOV type as used on Nissan Turbos as a backup set a few psi higher, that should give the best of both worlds throttle response and a safety valve to keep it all from over boost or boost creep issues |
lol! i like the bike turbo setup. thats a massive intercooler!!!!! i assumed this was a car build thread. i didnt click your picture link to look. sorry..
go with 2.0 inch. ive built 3 turbo bikes and 2.0 inch flows good and doesnt take up a bunch of room. what size are the inlet/outlets of the intercooler? |
see if you can find a smaller intercooler that will fit vertically instead of horizontal. you can obviously weld aluminum so check out Bell Intercoolers
they make really nice intercooler cores in any size that you can weld your own end tanks on or buy them complete. |
size are the inlet/outlets of the intercooler is 65 mm. but im am not using them. My plan is to change the inlet/outlets to either 2 or 2.5 pipes. The pipes i will of course adjust so they are pointing in the right direction (turbo and plenum)
Bell intercoolers looks very nice, but I bought mine for approx. $ 60 and I think I will keep it I think i will go for the 2.0 inch pipes, and i agree, it will look better. I am going to buy this set of pipes i see what i can do with it (PIPE2) http://turbomotor.dk/contents/da/d18.html To coxy: "Especially on a Motorcycle I would look at a Mazda GTX Turbo type bypass valve to circulate boost pressure when the throttle is closed, anti lag style and the safety BOV type as used on Nissan Turbos as a backup set a few psi higher, that should give the best of both worlds throttle response and a safety valve to keep it all from over boost or boost creep issues" I will study what this is al about. This is my first build and i am learning :-) Thanks guys, for the answers :-) |
