Make an OBD1 --- OBD1 harness (like a conversion harness) and tap into all the sensors from that harness. Then, no need to cut, solder or tap into any wires on the other car ;)

That is alanis moresset (sp?), not my cup of tea.

There are a ton of good options for wideband datalogging. You just have to know what you are doing and any of them can work fine.
