widebands

Re: widebands
You don't need a wideband to tune, but with an EFI car it takes about ten times as long and you have to know twenty times as much and then the plugs will foul out a lot anyway and ---- will never really be perfect. Expect to pop 10-12 engines before you get really good at reading plugs. Probably one of the only times a MAF setup would be preferrable to a speed density setup, unfortunately half the MAF cars I've tuned are kind of retarded and don't work as advertised so hahahahahaha have fun with that.
If it's a carb, it takes maybe 2-3 times as long and is pretty straight forward... I mean, your only adjustments for air-fuel ratio are idle jet and main jet.

Re: widebands
Why do it the hard way when there is an easy way?
We have wideband kits for around $100 nowadays so theres no need not to have one. With the wideband sensor, det cans and some datalogging a rough tune can be done in 30 mins whereas the oldschool way will take much longer and as xencron says youd be looking at blowing engines first.
