What kinda ECU do I need??
I got a y8 vtec head on my a6 crx block. i know the stock ecu wont work and i was told the stock y8 wont work either. if anyone could tell me what ecu i need that would be great! thanks for the help!
This depends on what your plans are. Are you wanting "factory-like" VTec control? You can either:
A) Convert to an OBD1 platform, and use a P28,
B) Mod a 90-91PM6 for PS9 hardware, chip your 28 EEPROM and run PGMFI's 1wire VTec code,
C) Use a 90-91 PS9 (EX) Automatic ECU chipped with PGMFI's 1wire VTec
As for ROM editing, My editor supports the 1wire VTec, GhD will support it soon.

(btw-i accendentaly used fastcivicboys name so fastcivicboy is not asking the question, i am SIKCRX, just thaught i would let yall know!) Well I was wanting to go with the p28 with what ever vtec controller will work. will this one work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2428849161 or what about the Apexi vafc?
i just need to make sure the p28 will plug into my stock wire harness and work with a vtec.
thanks for the help!

A P28 has native VTec support. A VTec controller will only give you control over the activation RPM.
If you're planning on using an external VTec activation source, my recommendation would be to use your stock ECU. This would enable you to keep you existing wiring setup, and still allow for VTec. Not to mention, it's much more cost effective.

So i can wire up a vtec using my stock non vtec ecu? so that spoon sport vtec controller is meant to work on stock non vtec ecus?
im just trying to get my vtec to work with the least amount of money. if i could use my stock ecu then that would be great! thanks! what would you do? with what vtec controller?

Personally, I use an A'pexi V-AFC. Since this also controls the MAP signal scaling for my turbo setup, this was indeed the best route as it also controls VTec activation RPM. I chipped my exiting '91 PM6 (non-VTec) ECU, and tune from that.
