Default What happens with crome if u overboost?

So i just got to thinking the other day when someone i gave a basemap asked me a question about what would happens when u go over 11.2 psi on the stock map sensor with crome?? The maps for the stock map sensor only go to 11.2 as far as i can see with crome So what happens if u accidently go over 11.2??

We were playing with my EBC on my buddies car, Normally the car sits at 10 psi, but the odd shift gain would slip a little, car bucks like hitting the rev limiter until boost settled down.

nothing happens, you just dont have anymore boost columns to read, so it will read out of the highest column. ive run in excess of 15psi on stock map sensors in the past.

no, it wont hit limp mode.

and unless you have a boost limiter installed, it will not buck like a rev liimiter

could it blown the engine? i supporse if he make more boost and there arent more columns for to read.. what about fuel injection? what happend w/ injections in that boost?

You can run over 11psi on the stock MAP sensor. You would just tune the last column to get good A/F ratio at desired boost level.

Basically if you want to run anything over 11 psi, you have to tune it for that certain psi.
Say 15 psi on the stock map sensor. You have to tune the 11 psi column, (the last column) for 15 psi. Which means adding a lot of fuel and pulling a good bit of timing. ( Not my recomendation thouhg)

Basically the point is, if you don't want to run over 11 psi, put a boost cut on it for 11 psi, untill you get a bigger map sensor and can actually tune it for a higher boost.

Most map sensors, OBD0 or OBD1 never seem to read anything higher than 9.6 psi that I have experienced...

Personally I like to set a boost cut for safety, BUT with a stock map sensor...even if you set the boost cut to 10.5 psi and if the map sensor cant read that high...it will never cut.

So, thats why if you are on the threshold or boosting higher than 10psi...I suggest using and getting tuned with a large map sensor.
