Re:Using Uberdata on a non honda vehicle
how can you put a honda motor in a samurai.. its a straight 4, not inline, so the engine would sit sideways, it would require some sort of engine block to tranny adapter, and it would also require some sort of custom flywheel.
as for just switching to Fuel injection, I can't just switch, because no fuel injected cars run the same fuel maps as a 1.3L samurai engine. I would need to switch to a tunable injection system.. anybody knowledgable about megasquirt? |
Re:Using Uberdata on a non honda vehicle
I looked into swapping in a Honda motor in a Suzuki, but came to the conclusion that it's not possible without a custom transmission with 5 reverse gears and one forward gear, because the Honda engines turn the exact opposite direction of all other car engines that have ever been mass produced.
Now about UberData, I wouldn't want to go through the trouble of adapting a complete OBD1 electrical system into the car. I'd say MegaSquirt is the way to go in this setup, minimal amount of sensors, and doesn't rely on anything else in the car. In two of the fuel injection setups I did with MegaSquirt the elecrical system for the megasquirt was stand alone and the only connection between the stock electrical system and the megasquirt was the wire to the ignition switch to turn it on. |
