Default uber launch control question

ok i am waiting on my ecu to get back to me and i can't wait to see how uber runs compared to my vafc. so i started reading about all the functions that uber has and i read something about launch control that you turn on by pushing your "A/C" button that would be pretty sweet if i could set it at about 3000 rpm and just push the A/C button to turn it on so you don't have to try and hold it there. figured it would be cool since my ac button is basically just for looks.

any input on this?

Well unless you can change the rpm on the fly it's really not that useful because the street/track conditions are always different. When I am out street racing I launch by feel, because every track I am at is always different. When I am at the dragstrip with slicks I just end up using the rev limiter to launch off, although if you know the dragstrip well enough I suppose you could set it before you go at like 6500 rpms or whatever you please. Launch control does sound cool though and can be fun to play with.

Yep, Pat pretty much covered the way launch control will work. It's very different on streets and strips and varying weather conditions etc. Also, if your AC compressor clutch is not still installed and hooked up to the switch, launch control will not be activated off of the AC switch unless you wire the switch to pin B5 on the ecu..

i believe i set the launch control on your ecu for like 4200 or something, i've found this to be a pretty good spot for smaller street tires. but like trance said, unless your a/c is hooked up, you can't turn it on with the a/c button, you have to leave it on all the time. it disengages at a very low speed so you can still do fat burnouts if need be.

4200 rpms seems a little high for street tires if you ask me. I usually launch around 4000 rpms give or take and I have a Quaife LSD and drag radials. With my all season street tires there is no point in laucnhing my car because I don't get traction until 3rd gear.

from the local people that i've done, most d series with smaller set ups making around the 190-200hp mark or so, best generic launch rpm has been around 4k so that's generally what i set them at on basemaps for others that want launch control.

Yeah I have never actually tried my launch control with uberdata, so it might be completely different than doing it by feel.

yeah, it is, you should try it, i like the feature a lot and you can build boost off the line. when launching by feel, you generally tend to mash the gas to the floor before the clutch is fully engaged, just an adrenaline too much going on type thing, there fore causing you to spin even more when you think you're really launching at a lower rpm.

Yeah I think I will give it a try, but I still think when I am out street racing I will do it by feel. Every once in a while I will ---- up, but the majority of the time I do pretty well. I pretty much just drop the clutch or slip it really fast around 4k rpms and then feather the gas until I am going fast enough to go WOT, or like you said the tires will spin too much. I am actually getting pretty good at laucnhing on the street, I go out and practice all the time. The Quaife LSD and drag radials defintely help a lot.
