Uber help please

This is going to be long, as it has been a long troubleshooting process. I have a D15b7, 94 Dx motor. I had a chipped p06 which I thought was fried but I guess some connections were just bad, my friend resoldered it and fixed it. When I thought it was bad I bought a p05, I guess p05's don't have 02 sensore heaters, that is the only difference between a p05 and a p06. I have my 02 sensor unplugged and turned off in Uberdata. So I have been driving around on a basemap and it runs good but in cold cold weather it idles like pure crap. Idles like it has a huge cam. And I know it's idling wicked rich because it's pouring out condensation white smoke (because it's so cold) and it smells like raw gas. No black smoke though. Anyway, this basemap is really rich, bogs sometimes at half throttle. So I burned a new chip tonight and leaned it out. So the idle is leaner. Burned in 1.64, 1.66, and 1.7. The car idles like crap still even when I switched back to my p06. Tried both chips in both Ecu's and it's still bad. And now after all this, the car bogs when I'm at anything less than like almost WOT. Like starts to cut out and then I have to floor it to get it to snap out of it. I am not throwing any codes. What the hell is wrong with my car?!?!?!

So the same basemap you ran in the P05 runs the same way in the P06? This never happened before in the P06? Do you have the Fuel modifiers in your Uberdata .bin enabled? I've had some shitty problems whith them when they are enebled (Raw gas out the exhaust and the same symptoms you mentioned).

Re:Uber help please

yes, they are enabled, hmmm. What does it do when they are disabled, automatically set to 53% (recommended for 450's)?

Re:Uber help please

Disabled, still pouring out smoke. I am not as bothered by that as I am by the bogging and awful idle, I mean, it is 5 degrees out. Yeah runs the same in p06 and p05. I haven't been running the p06 with boost yet, this is the first night I did after my friend resoldered it. Now it's just running the same as the p05 though. The only thing wrong with the p05 8 hours ago before I screwed with stuff was, idling like crap and bogging at half throttle (rarely though). Now not only does it idle like crap, it bogs all the time and is pouring out more smoke than ever. Since boosted it has not idled well when cold. However, when I had this basemap running NA it did not have any of these problems. Maybe running open DP with no 02 is effecting something?

Re:Uber help please

Yeah I had them causing some screed up things. I won't even use them anymore. But is there anyway for you to post up the .bin on here? If not just email it to me, I'd be interested in checking it out too.

Re:Uber help please

Alright I sent you the two bins I have tried.

Re:Uber help please

Nonvtec try my map. It is in the link in my sig under Uberdata. It will work. Its 1.66 Plus did you check your plugs? Do you have an injector sticking open?

nonvtec 12-20-2004 07:33 PM

Re:Uber help please

Trance, your email hates me or something... I posted the bins here http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata/for...;threadid=2346
Whenever I try to send you email I get it back with a delivery failure, ???

nonvtec 12-20-2004 07:35 PM

Re:Uber help please

How do I check if an injector is sticking open?

SpankedYA! 12-20-2004 07:36 PM

Re:Uber help please

I just compared your map to mine that I run and I am way leaner in low RPM/Vacuum.

Re:Uber help please

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If so it will bleed down after you shut off the car.

Re:Uber help please

Just go burn my bin. ;)

nonvtec 12-20-2004 07:42 PM

Re:Uber help please

ok, brb

Re:Uber help please

Yeah but your plugs are fouled to ---- now, you should pull them and clean them up.

tranceminister 12-20-2004 07:53 PM

Re:Uber help please

Haha sorry about that nonvtec, I was wondering where they were :P At least we've got some more help here, we'll figure it out.

nonvtec 12-20-2004 07:57 PM

Re:Uber help please

Pull plugs? it's 5 degrees out man :-\ Anyway, still idles bad with CSaddict's bin, took it for a rip and I forgot to disable FTL, doesn't work with no speedo ;) BRB again.

Re:Uber help please

Oh you are a NE guy like Trance and Me! Yeah its cold as ----.

nonvtec 12-20-2004 08:06 PM

Re:Uber help please

Yeah CS, I met you at the NE install, I was the one that wired that kid's injectors. Ok, put CSaddicts bin in. Rips good still :) Idle is still erattic, I would say there is a little less smoke maybe? I think I can chalk the smoke at idle up to it being cold as fawk. Maybe the bogging can be chalked up to fouled plugs? What about the messed up idle? Could open DP and no o2 have anything to do with that?

SpankedYA! 12-20-2004 08:09 PM

Re:Uber help please

My map is set for closed loop disable so no O2 is not an issue. I think your fouled plug may be an issue.

nonvtec 12-20-2004 08:34 PM

Re:Uber help please

Crappy pics, the electrode isn't black, but the base of the plug is. Doesn't look too bad :-\ i'll get some new plugs tommorow I think just to be safe.

Re:Uber help please

Well, i'm going to put an exhaust on this thing soon. As soon as I can find a shop in PA with a pipe bender, harder than it sounds. Put an 02 sensor on it, regap my plugs at the least, try some more bins out. Was just hoping it was going to idle tommorow morning at 6 when I get up to work and it's 0 degrees out. Guess not >:(

Re:Uber help please

I hate to say it...but you really cant do this troubleshooting without a wideband man.

Everything you desribe sounds like tuning issues.

Instead of throwing a bunch of different BINs in..carefully select the idle area...make like 5 BINs from a starting 'control' bin

#1 - 20% leaner
#2 - 15% leaner
#3 - 5% leaner
#4 - 5% richer
#5 - 15% richer

try every one and see what feels the best...and then zero in from there...you can safely play with idle areas and not screw anything up

Re:Uber help please

The first 4 boxes are idle right? in a square or in a column?

it may vary depending on how much vacuum you are pulling. use ECUControl to be certain

SpankedYA! 12-21-2004 07:45 PM

Re:Uber help please

Usually the first 3 columns up to 1000rpm. Take out 1% at a time till you idle without puking fuel.

Re:Uber help please

ah...i meant use datalogging (turboedit on the brain) ::)
