TurboEDIT and DSM 450's running like stock?

Who here is using DSM 450's and turboedit and find their car idling, driving and overall run like ---- in vacum? unlike like my old N/A motor I really missed how smooth my idle was and how responsive my throttle use to be in this D15 engine cruising normally(~10.0-0 in HG), or how it idles at around 1500 in a cold morning and it would drop to about 800 when warmed up, compared to 1100 and like 600-700 warmed up now :(, anyone know why its so fucked? I'm using an IHI turbo and its tuned for 12.5:1 but i barely tuned the vacum region (pretty much stock basemap values) since it always displayed 14.7(at idle too) except it would hit 10.1 when i give it gas then back to 14.7 almost instantly. I had the impression that since turboed=more lag and therefore kinda shitty till you hit boost. Does this theroy still stand correct and verdict that to my problem or its just my vacum tune is fucked?

Re: TurboEDIT and DSM 450's running like stock?

Also when you're idling and you tap the gas it reves UP right? well mine doesn't it actually drops down like 100 RPM and then it will rev up. WTF this kinda makes me wanna go back to N/A >:(

Re: TurboEDIT and DSM 450's running like stock?

Uh, you need to tune your idle.

Disable O2, use your wireband, tune idle. It's obviously not right. Too rich.. not enough ignition.. not to mention 450s open/close slower.. you really need to tune playa.

Re: TurboEDIT and DSM 450's running like stock?

Be sure you have the O2 senser turned on in Turboedit. You can select o2 ON, o2 OFF or o2 OFF in boost. I had mine off and I had a bunch of "flat spots". I burned a new chip with no other changes except I changed the o2 to OFF in boost and now the car runs great. 8)

..uh, you can't tune with that on. I mean you "can", but it's worthless. The ECU will also be trying to correct your changes... ..but, whatever.

Re: TurboEDIT and DSM 450's running like stock?

Thanks for the replies but i'm using NG48 not NG55 so i take it i cannot turn off my o2 sensor. The reason why i'm still running NG48 is because my car will not run with the NG55 code. Don't ask why it beats me i've tried many times. ???

Heres something for you to brain storm about, i'm using TE V 2.5.2: when i open my NG48 bin the stock map radio is not selected, nothing is actually selected for the map sensor and yet my car starts up and drives. When i check it as stock map sensor radio ( 1.8 ) my car won't run. Now when i open my NG55 bin is already selected as stock map radio and it acts the same as NG48 with stock map radio checked(starts but boggs and dies).

Ya, we don't support defunct code. Good luck fixing your issues dude..

..btw, the latest code revision is NG60, if I remember correctly.

looks like i'm going to have to tune with O2 on :( sounds fun enough haha :D

Heh, interesting.. Xenocron maintains both of those sites. :P

PGMFI is broke right now.. but it's there.. when it's back up, I'll update this post withthe URL.

Sign into to PGMFI.org and then click the link again. Does it all the time to me.

Ok i got it! ;D

so now the question is will the NG 55 Basemapper deluxe work along side NG60?

No idea...I dont know if the column headings have changed at all or how drastically.

Come on now. You are supposed to be TurboEdit's lead support rep. You should know these things. ;D

Just kidding man. It seems like OBD0 is in another one of its lows. It was hot for a couple of months and now there is no action at all. Maybe I should learn how to code asm and help out. 8)

No, I recommend you learn what the basemapper is actually doing so that you can make your own proper basemap.

The basemapper will probably work...but get a wideband on it ASAP and tune right away.

Re: TurboEDIT and DSM 450's running like stock?

A little off-topic, but... What happened to the basemapper helper that had the fudge factor and boost maps. The basemapper on your web page has option for d or b-series and thats it. If one were to make a basemap with this, they would find out in a hurry that the map is going to be to lean (after converting to 450's in TE and creating boost maps in TE) since there is no fudge factor adjustment in TE. Well there is of sorts, you can just enrich the entire map by a percentage. Why the change?

And you say that he should learn how to use the basemapper. I am sure that there are people out there who are learning and new to this, and there is no documented procedure (or at least easy to find) so that people can use it properly. Just my 2 pennies.

http://-------------/downloads.php?page=basemapper

The one on my site here:
http://-------------/downloads.php?page=basemapper

Certainly still has the 'tweak' factor built in... ???

As far as understanding...there is a lot of discussion on this on the PGMFI forums...

But basically...stock ROM (programs) have set rows (RPMS) and columns (Vacuum/Boost). The modified PGMFI code has expanded the number of columns and thus has changed what each column represent (in vacuum or boost)....so the 'grids' dont line up if you just try to copy and paste.

TurboEdit does its best to represent to the user what the actual value is on each column heading, but it aint exact by any stretch and the ECU does a lot of averaging and interpolation to figure out how much fuel to dump in each cylinder every 0.000000001 seconds.

So basically, the helper takes the stock maps and calculates the best possible approximation of what the stock maps would look like as NG.. series maps.

It also uses basic math to convert between different injector sizes and does ignition retard calculations...etc.

Help?

Good deal, that basemapper has it all. The basemapper link on the TE basemap instruction page is an older version without all of the options. (hxxp://www.-------------/downloads/NG55-BasemapHelper.xls)

As for your explination, that pretty much sums it up. For those that don't know, now you know.
