tuning idle...surging from 1000-1200 when warm..lsvtec turbo...run out of ideas!
ok this is the weirdest problem and it has been haunting me for the last few weeks, ever since i have gotten my car together. setup:
lsvtec turbo
crome fuel management
dsm 450's
b16 head
b18b block
ls 60mm throttle body
anyways, no matter what im doing im getting an idle surge from 1000-1200. now it doesnt happen all the time. when i first start up the car it idles nice and high and slowly and smoothly drops down to 750 when its up to temperature. then, when i just rev it and not move, it will drop down again to 750 and sit there nice. BUT, when i go for a drive and stop at a light it constantly bounces from 1000 - 1200, this happens EVERYTIME. then when i get back home and stop to park it will keep surging. SO, it always surgers except when i first start it up. it seems like it only does this when its hot. any ideas? this is what i have done so far:
-reset the tps..got a .50 voltage at the tps sensor when throttle body was closed. its supposed to be .45 but i hope this is close enough, i cant move it anymore.
-bled my coolant lines for bubbles
-datalogged coldstart...that didnt tell me much other than my tps was 0 which it should be
-tried a differnent TB
-made about 50 different maps and tried to tune them all at idle..nothing
-timing is set correct in crome and at base of 16*
-running off my wideband so my 02 is disabled...would this have anything to do with it?
-i have not cleaned out my IACV...didnt think it would be this as everyhing worked fine last year.
-didnt clean the FITV...also thought that this would be slim
i have ran out of ideas...any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Do you have the newest version of crome with the iac slider? If not download it. Xenocron posted up his version of crome for download in a thread on pgmfi called Xenocron explores crome timing issue or something like that. If you do a search on pgmfi for ectune that thread will show up.
And try cleaning out your iacv. It could already be clogged. You could also try adjusting your idle screw?

thanks, yeah i tried adjusting the idle screw but for some reason that didnt seem to do anything... i have that newest version of crome and that doesnt seem to do anything as well... i have the worst luck, this problem is driving me crazy. i guess the next step is to clean out those valves

i just replaced the t stat. i think that had something to do with it. my upper rad hose felt like it was ready to explode and my lower rad hose was cold. so i guess there was no ciculation. NOW, there is circulation but my fans are constanly on, the car DOES NOT overheat anymore but i STILL have this stupid idle problem. any idea why my fans are on all the time? i mean i put the key in the ign when the car is cold and they still turn on even when the car has not even started yet...now im thinking its the sending unit...DAMMIT!!!!

really, you think its the ect sensor? i have an old one kicking around. i guess ill try that. how hot should the lower rad hose be? i mean its warm but the top one is so hot its hard to touch. the thermostat should be working because its new and the lower hose is warm, but jut barely warm all the time. so what would this sensor be thinking? now that i have replaced my t stat my fans wont ever turn off. they are allways on so i have to unplug it at the t stat for them to go off. weird....
