Some of you may remember we had 2 TurboEdit classes back in the early spring. Thinking about doing it again as there are probably some new members on here that would like to learn in an accelerated environment.

Thing is...I'd like to use this as a motivational tool for the developers to get some features and new things going so I will be charging and all $$$ goes to development efforts.

I'd limit it to 10 only at $5 or $10 each seat. Class logs would be provided to members and then posted later down the road for everyone to learn from.

Yeah or Nea?

Who's in?

Thinking of doing it (or multiple classes if there is good response) just after XMAS so you cheap ass bastards will have some $$$ to donate to the effort :P

Re:Thinking about having another TurboEdit class. Ideas???

I understand you want to get into the high tech end of using TurboEdit and have an advanced discussion, but I would like to get in if it doesn't fly right over my head(like the other ones ended). I'd be more than willing to pay for my spot if I knew the class was going to be more directed at the "basic" stuff. :-\ I'm sure I'm not alone here? Maybe we could have 2 classes, one for TurboEdit 101 and one for TurboEdit 102-9000?

Just my thoughts......

How about we get some non-boost cut roms out yo'
Feel free to flame my ass if this has already been fixed. I havent been following TE to closely lately, but I keep hearing about it.

As far as a TE Class, I think charging is a ok idea. Id like to offer my exp. but I dont wanna pay anything, haha

Yeah this was fixed a while ago...I put down 251 to the wheels @ 13psi on a stock map sensor :P

Leed you are definitely a PGMFI elder...if you felt that you could offer good stuff in a "basic" form I would love to have you help out.

when/if this ever happens

I know I would like to raise at least $100 to raise some eyebrows and get this ---- developing along nicely again :)

Where would you be holding this class? I would love to attend but I can't afford to travel halfway across the country. If I remember you are on the east coast, right?

Re:Thinking about having another TurboEdit class. Ideas???

HAHA....It would be online.

It was a combination of AIM and a software that allowed everyone to see my desktop so they understod what I was doing.

Sounds good then. I'm sure there are more people who need the basic training more than the advanced tech. I still see posts about using AFC's so that tells me we have people who are scared to use TurboEdit because it looks to complicated. :-\

Come on you cheap fuckers. Donate $5-$10 for a good cause and get an education with it. :P

lol I got the impression it would be in person not online to ahaha

Anyways, Id definetely be interested, Im sure youd have a nice group if you made a few different classes.

1 for people just starting and just want a basic grip and maybe make a basemap
1 for people who have base tunes down and want to move into datalogging and such
1 high tech nerds

I wouldnt mind just learning the program even though Im going to be coming to you personally from Canada early spring next year, wouldnt mind knowing the program though.

BTW- Dont skimp out on those TE dyno days, Im def down for one next summer

And CSaddict has generously donated all of the flights and expenses for my trips :P

I don't think that there needs to be a separation of class levels. Those that have it don't need to learn anything else...it really is a simple program once you learn it and get hands on experience. It's usually that initial hump to get over that most people find hard.

Re:Thinking about having another TurboEdit class. Ideas???

Count me in.. again ;)

Here are my suggestions:

1. Make a syllabus and stick to it for a good portion of the class. Last time, there was a good deal of info, but no organization and too much chatter that wasted time. I think doing a survey now asking what people want to know would help come up with an outline for the class.

2. Use an IRC client or similar for the chat so you can disable people from talking when they shouldn't be. That way, people can start typing their questions and get them writen well and worded the way they should without worrying about missing out because someone else overshadowed them. Then, when it comes time for questions all the similar ones can be combined and answered and the rest answered individually.

Since this is going to be posted for people later, I think organizing it so it's easy to read and find what you're looking for is important.

I like your suggestions...I was definitely planning on letting all attendees submit 3 questions each BEFORE the class and I would try to address them all during the class.

I will definitely have some sort of outline as well...it would be nice to completely stick to it but not always practical.

Maybe you can help me out again on the tech side in setting up the IRC chat and showing me how to control the commands. I am usually an AIM guy...and they just make it too easy :P

Sure, no problem. We could probably use a web based IRC chat for those that don't know how to use IRC if someone can host it. Chris, what does your webhost allow as far as CGI?

Im going to have to get Dave to setup the VNC relay again so maybe he can host the chat as well. I'll see what he can do.

oh yeah and serial port data logging.....and on the fly tunning...oh and what are the benefits to using the serial port tuning in conjunction with a wideband?

also what if any are the pros and cons on tunning without the wideband and only the serial port?

I really cant teach you how to tune...especially over the internet. I can give you the basic pointers but this class will be focused on TurboEdit and its functionality as a program.

I may cover some ECUControl stuff as well for datalogging purposes.

Maybe I should do this sooner rather than later...

How's 5pm EST on Sunday December 12th sound?

I'll see if I can get the technology in place by then.

Re:Thinking about having another TurboEdit class. Ideas???

I'm interested in the class, just need to know a set date, if one of them was around the 12th of december then i would be at school with the high speed connection, since dial up wont work.

Sikocivic 11-27-2004 08:54 AM

Re:Thinking about having another TurboEdit class. Ideas???

We need to get a date for this class set so people can be sure they can get in on it. I would think that most people that are in school would be home for the holidays and won't be back at school until mid january. Is that good or bad for most people? If you don't have high speed internet at home(like I do) then that could be a problem. When do you want us to pay for this?
