Stupid Tuning Prep Question

Stupid Tuning Prep Question
My car has been running for quite a while on a basemap, as I had a turbo that was burning oil and my tuner wanted me to get that fixed first. Now I'm thinking instead of paying him, I'll just put that cash towards and LC-1 and a willems burner. The question is: Do I need a datalogging cable for my ECU? I didnt think I was going to be tuning it myself, so I didnt buy one with it.

Re: Stupid Tuning Prep Question
If you are using a controller that includes the loging software then you will not need it.
I personally like using mine. I have made many of the USB type cables but they are tricky to get working. Hit up xenocron's site for a serial one, they work well, it is what I use.
I would also suggest that if you are gonna spend the money on a willem, drop the extra $30 for a Moates. It is well worth the extra money IMO.

Ill definately think about the burn1 but i think i might be able to deal with the pain of the wilems for the 50 bux saved.

Re: Stupid Tuning Prep Question
The only signal you can log with the LC-1 is AFR...
If running on non-honda and you want to log the other main sensors (AFR, IAT, ECT, TPS, MAP, RPM)...you will need the LM-1 with the RPM Convertor box to log those sensors with a laptop.
If using a program like Crome, Uber...etc, yes you will need a datalogging cable to accurately datalog information directly from the ECU

Haha so it sounds like ill be getting a cable.
And it also looks like i might end up using uber. from what ive seen with messing around with crome, you cant datalog without the pro liscense, right?
