i havent had to desolder something before, i used a 15 watt pencil soldering iron and 0.015" Silver-Bearing Solder(#64-035). go to the shack and check out what they have iam sure there is some geek there that can answer questions about desoldering...lol....goodluck ;D

For soldering I use the 15 watt grounded radio shack iron and their thinnest solder. The radio shack desoldering iron is not so great, seemed like I was gonna burn a trace up before I could get all the solder out. I prefer soldering wick and a 40 watt iron, the 15 seems to have trouble heating up the wick, with the 40 I can get in and out quick and it seems a lot safer. I reccomend practicing desoldering on something you can afford to ruin first.
