go to radioshack get the lowest watt setting soldering iron u can, i believe it is 15watts. then get the smallest highest grade solder, which is smaller than the width of the lead in a .05 mechanical pencil. i tryed with a higher watt iron and larger solder and i fucked up a circuit board. so this is the only way i reconmend

---- radio shack tools. I bought a xytronic 988 temp control soldering / desoldering station from Howard Electronics and it rocks. It was ~$300 refurbished, but by far the best value for money in a tool I've purchased in a long time. Done literally a hundred+ ECUs since w/ no problems.

Re:Soldering tools for chipping

if the guy is doing 1 ecu why would he spend 300 on a soldering tool when he can spend 20 and get the same results? i can understand if he's doing a large quanity but if not why waste money. someone inexperienced at soldering probably will ---- up anyway....lol ;D ;D ;D

Re:Soldering tools for chipping

I have 3 hf ecu's so i was planning on messing with those. So you think I'll be alright with the radio shack one. What kind of pump do you recommend for picking up the solder.
