lol. anyways i have had an safc2 now for quite some time. the main thing is, whenever i wire to the ecu, it refuses to power up. nothing. not even a glimmer in the eye of kain. so i go and resolder it again, nothing. dud? i sit pissed for a couple of months untill today when i say ill be letting it go for 50 bucks. so the guy says just plug it into your pc power supply. hm... never thaught of that.

BOOM!! powers right up. ok im thinking to myself wtf?

here is my question.

i know the gorunding points are impotant and what not, but could i simply take the 12v source from somewhere else, and then put the grounding points on the ecu ground and run it like that? or could i simply ditch the ecu ground and just wire it up in conjunction with my sterio and ground the damn thing to the chasis?

 

i have zero exp w/ the hack but, power is power, its only giving life to the unit so why would the ecu even be involved?
just make sure it has power when you turn the car on

 

well it says in the booklet to take power from the ecu. but... meh. i dont know. maybee ill give it another shot when i have more free time over the weekend.

 

Yea, i tapped my power from another source other than the ecu. I couldnt find the damn thing.

 

Voltmeter is your friend. I'd go by the book. It's gettin power somehow. Tap it.
