running without a battery
 

I am thinking about running with a really small battery for weight reduction, but I'm worried that it
Oght make less power or won't run right with the reduced battery power. How much does the battery effect how the car runs. I plan to use a jump box to start the car and it will be a dediated track car so headlights and things like that aren't an issue

i'm not sure about the exact voltage levels while the car is running without a battery hooked up, but in theory, the alternator should put out 13+ volts. if you mean track, like drag strip id say you're fine. road course, you better have a way to start the car incase you stall it when you spin out, etc.

i'll tell you what, i'm interested in this info too, so when I get home, i'll do some testing with a volt meter and the battery terminals unhooked.

it will auto-x and drag. Restating shouldn't be an issue since I won't be far away

I just checked the weight and the battery I plan to use is 20lbs lighter and I get them free from work

I get used airplane batteries for free. The ones I get are sealed too so they can be mounted anywhere. The free ones that I get that I plan to use in the race car are secondary batteries. All of the batteries i get are replaced every 2 years weather they need it or not so they usually last 2-3 years after I get them.

ill send you money for one of those batteries. you will be fine running with no battery i have done it before in my crx. the alternator should be around 14.5 volts so once the car is running it does not need the battery. and if your worried about voltage drop when hitting the gas maybe get a capasitor to help out. but if your alternator is working good then no need for a battery

yea i just got a free Odyssey battery from my dads RV6a, i guess in an airplane you wouldn't want to run the battery till they die, lol

Im using a odyssey PC680... It doesnt weigh ----, is really small and I have a small system in trhe car (JL 10 and Fosgate 200 watt amp). It has yet to let me down... Even in the EX Accord with power everything.
