Ready to rock the Zeitronix, but now I have problems....

I'm all setup with a laptop and Zeitronix, but when I try to open the program I get this error "Error Starting program
The ZDL.EXE file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6625" and then I get another one that says "A device attached to the system is not functioning."

I'm running Windows98 and the computer seems to be working fine. I can open the program on my desktop just fine. :-\

One thing I noticed is the software CD says "Windows95" on it, but I know it works with windows 98. ??? WTF?

Good luck...why not just try wiping the Zeitronix program off and installing it again before upgrading to XP

Tried that a couple times. It's just not working. :(

XP won't install because I only have 32mb and I need 64. ::)

I can't get this computer online for the life of me. I'm about to run to staples and buy a Netgear USB wireless adapter. This sucks. :'(

Re:Ready to rock the Zeitronix, but now I have problems....

I think that your MFC42.DLL file just has to be updated, this is a problem that I believe occurs in the context of other programs.
MFC = (in the programming world) classes that programs use, so if you dont have the right stuff, your program won't run.

try to update that somehow. I dont know anything about 98, but maybe there's some fix. google it and try microsoft's site or something.
I also think that 2000 may work for you, it's got less required system load. you can give that a shot.

Re:Ready to rock the Zeitronix, but now I have problems....

I have to get the laptop online first. It doesn't have a modem or any ports for one or anything. Not even a floppy, but it does have a CD drive and one USB, which is all I really need.

One thing I noticed is that when I download the program on my desktop with XP I have to unzip the files first, but with the laptop on 98 it doesn't ask anything about unzipping. ??? It just skips that whole process.

Don't go unzipping ----, you know where that lead to :-\ I personally am starting to think Windows 98 is just garbage. I have had problems with it on my old laptop for a couple of year, kept having restore the computer. It got to the point that W98 would not even let me get on the net. I bought a new laptop that runs XP and it rocks. Get the memory, it should be cheap and do the upgrade to XP.

Re:Ready to rock the Zeitronix, but now I have problems....

I got win 98 and use ZTL with no problem. (It wasn't working that good with 2000, i had to go back to 98 and no problem)

mfc42.dll can be extra from the win 98 install cd. Just follow this:

Insert your Win98 CD rom in your drive.
Select Start/Run, type SFC in the 'Open' box and press enter.
When System File Checker opens, select 'Extract One File from installation disk'. Now enter mfc42.dll in the search box and press enter.
When the 'Extract File' window opens, the 'Restore From' box should be set to your
CD rom drive letter as d:\Win98. The 'Save file in:' box should read C:\Windows\System.
Now select 'OK' and follow the prompts.

this should restore you missing file. Hope this helps.

I think this god damn computer is fucked up though. I'm about ready to throw this mother fucker. All I wanted it to do was run Zeitronix and I can't get the piece of ---- to do that. I tried to go to the website and DL it directly from there and for some reason I can't open the ------- file because my computer doesn't know what to do. ::) Wow I hate computers. This is ------- gay. Anybody want to buy a laptop? :-\

I can't even run any updats from Microsoft to see if that is the problem. It won't even open the page for the downloads. this is what you need. The wesite I found says the most you can run is 128 meg total. 64 max in each slot.

The type is 144 pin EDO SODIMM, its fairly standard. I will look for 64 meg modules.

My original post was wrong size

Its more expensive but they take paypal. XP will run like crap on it but it will run.

Re:Ready to rock the Zeitronix, but now I have problems....

So do I still need 2 of those? XP says I only need 64 to run it.

I was able to update to IE6 and now it works much better. I can actually dowload ---- from Microsoft.com now. I'm installing the new updates right now so it should work better after this.

Make sure you know how to take them out. They usually tip up on an angle and slide out from there.

Dr.Boost 01-08-2005 07:18 PM

Re:Ready to rock the Zeitronix, but now I have problems....

I already fucked with them and they look easy to change.

Maybe you can answer this question....

I go to the Zeitrnoix site, I open/download the software, I try to open it and I get this:

Program not found
Windows cannot find Program.exe.
This program is needed for opening files of type 'ZIP File'
Location of Program.exe.

and then it asks me to locate the file, but I can't seem to find the right one to open it with. ??? I don't understand why it's having such a hard time opening this ------- file. I have a CD to download from and I have the direct file from the internet and it just can't seem to figure out how to work either one of them. ::)

You need winzip ;)

You basically need to extract the files first then run the exe. Its a zip file you download.

Ok you have to extract it to a folder you know, like my documents. Then open that folder and open the Zeitroinics folder. Then click on the little computer ICON that says set up. Keep trying. 98/95 is difficult.

Dr.Boost 01-08-2005 07:58 PM

Re:Ready to rock the Zeitronix, but now I have problems....

I got past that point. I had all the files extracted and when I tried to open it I got the same error I got with all the other ways I tried to open the god damn thing. :-\ I guess I'll just wait to see how XP works with it.

Thanks for all your help though. :)
