There's no doubt...I have seen some fast cars in P-R. I deal with a bunch of guys from there, but they have a really bad habit of doing things half-assed.
You run into issues with y8's and obd1 tuning, mostly dealing with the timing that JD can fully elaborate on. I honestly don't see why you'd want to lower your vtec engagement point, but hey...it's your car and perogative. Because you're still pretty well set on running obd2, best bet probably would be to get a vafc. The afc pretty much tricks the ecu into thinking vtec isn't engaged when it is and you can add a fuel correction to it for a vtec mismatch as well. But because you're running a fmu, I'm going to assume you have check valves or a missing link ( :X ) so your afc would really be useless for tuning boost.

check valves would be the thing but i already found a VAFC for 100 bucks a friend of mine had the same trouble i have with the chrome and uberdata and he did the only thing left for him, changed to Hondata since he couldnt find a chrome or uber tunner. he sold me the VAFC for 100 bucks wich is a sweet deal and now im thinking of running the VAFC hack while i can get enough cash to get the hondata or find someone to tune chrome ive been lookin and i know atleast 1 person in this damn island has to do it.

trust me ive been lookin for chrome and uber tunners for over 6 months now everyone i have asked says the same thing " I have been lookin for them also but in the end i gave up and bought the hondata and had Andy or Oso tune it for me", yeah there are alot of fast hatchs here mostly N/A or NOS set up doin 11's in both N/A or NOS set ups and a few running 10's in turbo set ups

Ever look at a dyno plot of a single cam that engages at 4800? Exactly. Mid 5k is best from what I have seen.

They spool a lot faster when you engage them lower, if the boost setting is on 'significant' instead of 'pissant' I'd suspect you wouldn't engage VTEC that late. ;)

yeah i have my own car LOL i managed to get 17 whp with the vtec engagin at 4800RPM reason being same as Joseph Davis said Spools alot faster and with my Tranny being even shorter ratio then the stock K4F helps me alot with the vtec engaged that low instead of mid 5k's

hmmm if you are making 200whp that tranny has to be hating life. The jet systems on the automatic transmissions in the EX have a tendancy to swell the seals when the fluid gets broken down, i.e. subjecting that much torque through the stock jet. No use changing the fluid either, then the seals just crack two weeks after you change it and then the whole tranny blows fluid around. Not a 100% though, ask bone.
