Default PP5=PM7???

So I bought this PP5 ECU and was wondering what the difference if any there was between that and a PM7, as the car that I got the PP5 off (Honda Concerto) has a ZC DOHC engine in it, the only visable difference between that and my 89 DOHC ZC CRX (Euro) is the Concerto had a cat and an O2 sensor and my CRX doesnt. So i was wondering if i could make a ROM with a PM7 codebase and run it in the PP5, I have been using PM6 bins up until now and think that could be half the problem with my car running *****

Just do it man...it has an space for an external rom right
Can you get a hold of one more of those ECU??
I need one

the PP5 is much closer in design to the PM6 than you may think - probably only missing injector sense + PA. It is probably nearly identical to the PM7 with cat. Your CRX w/o cat uses a PM7-0330 or similar probably. I haven't had enough time to analyze the hardware differences between the O2+cat / catless ECUs yet.

I would try using the PM7try21 code that George Ricketts posted. It's running beautifully for him with his New Zealand PM7.

Semnos - Yeah its got the external ROM in it, if you want one i'll try and find you one, what country you in, is it the netherlands?

Blundar - I tried using the PM7try21 from PGMFI and I managed to get out of the drive this time, it's probably the best ROM i've used yet but it jerks a lot on anything more than half throttle up until nearly 5k then after than floor it and its ------- awesome, i'm stumped with it its throwing a code 20 and when i try and edit the boost maps i burn it on a chip when i put it in the car it doesn't like me and wont move. It starts, revs up occasionally but as soon as i try and move it doesnt want to go.

Blundar, do you know how i can disable the O2 sensor circuit, when running a PM6 ROM it just throws a code 16 at me (O2 sensor) and when i Run a PM7 ROM in it its giving a code 20 which according to my manual is electrical overload or summat, so I figure if i can trick the ECU into thinking tht the O2 sensor is OK then i can run a PM6 ROM without it being a limp homo

16 is injector sense NOT o2. I don't know what to do to get rid of it.

Code 20 is ELD. you can remove the code with a simple hardware mod. see: http://www.pgmfi.org/phorum/read.php?f=12&i=2673&t=2673

Also, remember this ROM's tables are intended for 450cc injectors. Trying to use it with smaller injectors will result in your car not running. It needs retuned to run right.

sorry my mistake i got a code 16 from a loose plug on top of my injectors, cant remember what the code is for O2 but thats what it was what was on with the PM6 ROM I'm going to look into getting rid of the O2 when I get some spare time I'll keep you posted as to it's progress if you are interested. Anyhow I'm running a Garrett 42/48 @8psi with DSM 450's and a HF/DX (or whatever it is) manifold h/m adaptor FYI. Thanks for the link and for sticking with me on this one guys.

Update: just compared the PP5 to the Canadian and USDM PM6 and found quite a lot of differences, which got me thinking. I'm guessing that all of the OBD0 external ROM ECU's are based upon the same PCB with certain components added or removed for different specification engines and if this is the case i could turn my PP5 into a PM7 or a PM6 or w/e i want. . . anyone agree/disagree?
BTW i have documented all of the missing component destinations should anyone care
