that was a ------- malotov cocktail waiting to happen.... dude seriously your lucky.... maybe your injectors went kookoo for cocoa puffs and dumped an insane amount of fuel into your ----.... Probably got stuck open or something... and you had the key in the on position for a bit and it just dumped all that ---- in there?? thats the only thing i can think of

 

fuel system runs on a vacume and with the gas cap on the vaccume was there still and i bet one of the injectors was rammed open and it slowly filled the cyl with gas and pushed it out hte exause (both valves were open slightly maby?) or it trailed back up through your intake and down the intake piping..
