obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
Hi. I just found out i have to change the engine in a friends car this weekend. I have read alot about this, but right now i am realy confused.
now. the car is a 93 EDM civic EG 1.5 lsi obd-0 (yes they are obd-0) with a d15b2 dpfi engine (everything is stock). The engine that we are putting in to the car is a obd-1 d15b7 mpfi with engine harness and tranmission. The owner also has a obd-0 to obd-1 ecu conversion harness. but, can i just use the origninal d15b7 obd-1 engine harness and plugg it into the obd-0 car harness, and only work on the obd-0 car harness. Or will i have to use the d15b2 obd-0 harness and do a dpfi to mpfi conversion,with parts from the obd-1 engine harness? |
Re: obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
A little confusing what your asking but yes you can swap harness's. It's up to you how you want to do it, it would probably take a half hour just to wire in the extra injectors and dizzy but if you'd rather swap harness's then go for it.

so, I will have to use the obd-0 engine harness, and first do the dpfi to mpfi conversion, and then do the obd-0 to obd-1 conversion. gues ill have to go and read more about the dpfi to mpfi, and obd-0 to obd-1 conversion then.. Thank you guys.. |
Re: obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
all are eg's are obd1 so I think you might be on your own a bit. Were some of your 93's obd0 and some obd1?

so we are increasing the power from 90hp to 101hp :D yeeahh..lol obd-1: we have a 92-95 civic ESI (cupe\hb\sedan) that have the d16z6 engine. and then we have the 92-95 vti sedan and hb (not coupe) that have the b16a2 engine. And then we also have the sucky civic VEi sedan and hb (not coupe) that have the d15z1 engine.. |
Re: obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
i think this guys in not in the states and the cars in some euro spec stuff

I'm lost, haha. Thats some wierd sheeet. ;)

Re: obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
Damn, I can't get this car to start..
i have swapped the engine, and done the dpfi to mpfi conversion and the obd-0 to obd-1 conversion. I have checked every wire and it's all fine.. But I get a solid CEL (when i turn the igintion on, the CEL stays on. I have not connected the jumper wire). I have tried three diffrent obd1 ecu's, but that did not help, but if I remove the obd0 to obd1 conversion harness and but in the old obd0 ecu the CEL goes away.. But I have one question.. Is it normal that the fuel injectors have constant earth and gets 12v+ from the ecu? I thought it was the other way around..? |
Re: obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
Somebody posted a Euro MPFI swap link on here just recently do some digging around through this section.

Re: obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
I know, and i have read it, but it did not help me alot..
But i think the reason i get the solid CEL is becouse normal obd0 cars have the CEL on the ecu, but these EDM 92-95 obd0 cars have it in the instrument, just like obd1. And that is why the conversion harness fucks it up.. But i still think it is wierd that the injectors have contstant ground, and gets 12v+ from the ecu. All the work shop manuals I have read say it's the other way around, both on obd0 and obd1. But I can't find any chematics of obd0 DPFI enigines, just obd0 MPFI.. So if anyone have wiering schematics for obd0 DPFI, please let me know.. |
Re: obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
I thought that there is ground there and current is applied to open the injector?So what happens when you jump the connector?

Re: obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
Do you have a conversion harness for a North American car?How different are Euro harnesses?Do you have a OBD0 mpfi ecu to try?
|
Re: obd-0 dpfi => obd-1 mpfi
yes, the obd0 -> obd1 conversion harness is for usdm cars..
i think the only differense is that edm 92-95 obd0 cars don't have the CEL on the ecu, you jump a connector and the engine light flashes, just like on obd1 cars.. yes I have a PM7 ECU, but I have not tried it on this car, and I don't se any reson to do that.. |
