N/A Talon to Turbo Talon- Need info on how to...
 

I have several people now asking me this and that and wanting to turbo there cars since i have startde working at VAtozone.

The guy i work with has a 1st gen talon and from what i have seen it has a 4G63 in it. The question is can it be turboed by using parts from a TSi, GsT Etc. If so i know that the manifold and turbo along with all the other charge pipes will fit but what about fuel management? is it just plug and play with the sourcing of a ECu from a turbo eclipse or talon? any modification needed to the harness? i want to do it ritgh the 1st time but just wanted to get some feedback from any of you who have either done this or know of this.

the ecu should be plug and play, but you'll obviously have to use the 450's and more than likely the maf sensor also from the donor car. i'm pretty sure the n/a 4g's have higher comp., so i wouldn't expect it to run perfect without some tuning.

if its a 4g63(dohc) and not the 1.8l everything will fit mani turbo downpipe intercooler pipes ecu fuel rail injectors everything you will have to turn down the boost thow since its a na motor it cant handle the presure if the bottom end is good in the turbo one u can just use that your head your trani with a nice clutch and flywheel and it will almost be a gst :) good luck and its done alot check out dsmtuners.com for alot of info on how to also vfaq.com shows u step by step good luck

I thought the na talon engines are completely different than the boosted engines. It probably won't be very plug and play at all. It will definintly require some fine tuning.

if not mistaken the na cars also have way weaker trannies then the turbod cars. This could be a big problem. Alot of work from my researching. Everyone says to just get a turbod model instead of doing the swap. -Nick

has to be all custom, intake mani's are different. it points the other direction. trannies, the motor is weaker. jus do a swap.

NO NO NO..lol i havent been on this site for over a year now cause i sold my boosted honda and got a DSM mistake i know lol but now im selling it and getting a 5g sedan anyways.......1st gen dsm's are very easy to convert over ...the intake manifold isnt different trust me i got 3 N/A parts cars for my awd turbo only difference is is that it does not have a elbow for the stock charge pipes...get a 91-94 turbo manaul ecu, 450cc's, stock 1g throttle body elbow, all charge pipes, sidemount, turbo oil pan,and all coolant and oil lines and it will work run stock boost cause the NA's have no oil squiters and a very weak bottom end and yes the trannys are alot weaker to and have shitty ratios for a boosted car but it will work you will get a CEL from no knock sensor but no biggie ..use the site i gave up ^ from my other post for wiring mods its cake work i think like 4 wires ....if ya need anymore info or well parts for his car..lol msg me on here or on aim PrOjEcTSliDeWayZ good luck and keep updated on it ;D

Seriously, relax!!! i didnt know about the information being around for 10 years.

Besides we arent all born knowing everything unlike you. But yeah the whole project will be put on hold till my buddy decides he has time to do it.

DSMtuner did answer some of my questions so thanks for all the positive replies.
