Ecu was fine before I chipped it but now I think it's fried. I need your expert opinions. Even with J1 gone my car throws a solid cel when ignition is on and would run as if it was in limp mode and gonna die. I put on another ecu and cel was gone. I think the solder might have crossed some where I'm not sure. What stupid mistakes can you make to fry an ecu when chipping it. Well here are the pictures...help an idiot out.

Wow...cold solder joints like whoa. Try resoldering those pins for the socket, make sure to use a good soldering iron too, at least a 25-40 watt pencil tip.

But J1 isn't even connected so whatever's soldered in wouldn't even afffect the rest of the ecu right? Cause I'm getting a solid cel even when J1 is off.

I rock the 35 watt Craftsman special and its fine. If I were you I would take an entire roll of desoldering braid to the back and clean in between the pins where you soldered.

Would bad soldering cause an ecu failure? Only if you burnt the board right? I'm looking at the ecu right now and it doesn't seem like it had severe burns. Any clues guys...

I cant tell if its glare or not...but it looks like you have a lot of stray solder in the J1 area...maybe something is touching.

Are these leads touching the ECU cover plate? They look rather long.
