Ok, I bought a used s-afc like 6 months ago, and I just finally put it in today. I checked the wires like 10 times (no joke) and had a friend do the same, I turne the key on and it worked fine, the screw came up good and I could go through all my settings and stuff, so then I'm done working on my car for the day and I accidently left my interior light on, so I come back 4 hours later and turn my key to play around with it (not starting it b/c in the middle of turbo install) and the afc skips the little into "S-AFC" thing and goes right to the main menu and the up and down arrows work, but next and prev buttons don't. Sometimes If I hit the next button twice really quick it will work for a second then go back to the main menu. It was working Fine a while ago, what's up with it now I doubt it, but could that small draw of power for 4 hours make my good battery low and screw the afc up so it doesn't work right? any helpful encouraging word for me?

could a low battery affect it at all?

 

It's an electronic device. Of course a low power supply could affect it.

When you have a low battery really weird things can happen. I had a loose battery cable and while I was sitting at a light my break light would slowly come on. Then the car would die. Yeha charge your battery.

 

sounds like one of the buttons might be stuck? somebody spilled some pepsi on the thing during install and "forgot" to tell you.
